Thus far, the following has been working:

      Outlook

Rename OST file and allow to rebuild

      Word, Excel, etc

Sign out of the O365 account Delete all O365 / Office saved credentials Delete all folders that end with CACHE in the %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\ Delete Word Normal.dotm Delete the Auto Correct file (no aways) at C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office - generally just deleted them all Sign into Office using Word or Excel

I found that the name has changed to UniGetUI recently. I've been using it recently since it does all the Windows repositories I know about.

I seem to remember WingetUI,.. But This is a case of a fresh install of Win10 not having the 'updated MS Store' that even has the native Microsoft Winget.

I will however take a look at UniGetUI.. My goal maybe was simply just staying out of the MS Store,.. and using CLI like chocolatey, apt-get and the similar...

@gjacobse Sorry I wasn't clear. At some point the user was looking for something and clicked on a link in the results that then inserted something into Edge that causes the pop-ups.

Get-Service -ComputerName pc1, pc2 SERVICE | Select name, MachineName, Status

Where did you get the -ComputerName syntax from?

I can't find anything like that from the manual: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.management/get-service?view=powershell-7.2

OK, it's been deprecated. It's available in older versions of powershell, up to 5.1.

      https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.management/get-service?view=powershell-5.1

I read somewhere it doesn't use powershell remoting but dcom instead. And that's why it became obsolete.

Maybe you haven't got the right dcom privileges to run it remotely.

Say what now? I'm reading this:

      https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/scripting/samples/managing-services?view=powershell-7.2

I'd put one script on each remote computer and have it send an email whenever the service stops. Or check whatever it is you really want to know with the service.

Sadly, we already monitor the service. I can be 'running' but fail and need to be stop/started. We've also already done the scheduled task route where it checked it ever 15 min and stop/started it. But there are still times it needs to be manually stop/started. And this is 10x better then what they were doing when I started last year....

OK, so the script is part of something you actually use to restart it when you decide to?

Yes - while I would like to solve it with PS,.. my batch script works fine. I just figured with all that I am / have been doing with PS,.. why not convert it to PS and go one.

Now - if there is another way to accomplish this - I'm open to learning. It's what I'm applying with PS - learning.

OK, I checked now and the GX420T and GX430T is the same printer but with different dpi print heads.

If you can tell the application that prints to print differently depending on which printer you are printing to, everything will be fine.

If you can't, you have to replace those two GX430T printers with GX420T models.

Or put another way - if you want to have printers that are drop-in replacements for each other, you need to buy just GX420T printers (or other 203 dpi models).

Yes, it's something you should be using as a matter of course all the time. Any time you are doing anything text based - system configurations, writing a script, doing some coding, you should do two things...

Use an effective tool like VS Code to do it in just because it makes you faster and gives you a standard environment for everything. Always store it in a GIT repo. Just start there for everything. Make it a habit so it always goes there first. It's just like a dedicated file store for text.

@gjacobse said in NoMachine Server running, not found:

This is a bit frustrating - It seems that NoMachine is 'hit and miss' being being able to receive a connection. Searching for a device that is online find none, and the device shows running. Restarting the service may fix it, but many times doesn't seem too, and restarting the computer leaves the same issue - not found.

Some threads suggest re-installing it - which I will do, but seems like a poor fix on a service that should run on boot.

It's it just my aggravation is causing this or am I looking for something else?

That's why I never ended up using NoMachine. Too many issues like that.

And it's not free for commercial use - at least the last time I looked.

Can be, depends which one you are using.

In Dec I was informed I was going Month to Month at the end of the six months..

I think that's you're answer. They feel like they need to revaluate month to month. I would have argued for at least 3-6 month contracts or been looking to leave within a month or two max

I agree, that's your notice that you need to be actively looking. Month to month means that they AND you are supposed to evaluate the relationship every 30 days.

It's widely known that after you install software you should - reboot.

While many application function at one hundred percent right after install, some do not.

noMachine is like that it would seem. Thanks to @stacksofplates for mentioning this simple but very effective fact.

While I had installed noMachine, I hadn't performed that task on either the host or viewer.

Thus far - it's been working as designed and across platforms. I still need to test via the iPad - where I had had so much issue previously.

      Thanks again -

      No problem!

I don't know all of what is needed - as I'm not included in that circle. But I have been told that one of the littlest things needed is changing an email address. That simple. Change from this person to another person (should be a distro / security group to ....never mind).

We need -the quick fix- so that we can address the point that it's EOL and only going to worsen with support falling off.

make a rule in the the email system that checks for something from that machine and forwards it to the desired location... might be a doable workaround for now.

      @gjacobse Weird is right.

the closest I've seen is when 'nix boxes get a DHCP - they send this number that is some form of extended MAC as the hardware ID.

Interested to hear what you find out.

DHCP seems reasonable. Or there was a conflict.

in my case it's something in the way many Linux's now work. This thread talks about it.
      https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2288212-strange-extra-long-linux-mac-address-in-dhcp-active-leases

Not clicking the link, but it is the last 4 sets of the MAC address and the machine id as noted in /etc/machine-id. It is part of the DHCP RFC.
