Use SSH keys and whitelist your IP using Vultr firewall. When your IP changes, login to vultr console and add it.

      Much safer and way easier.

You still should be able to run powershell via manage engine Desktop Central. https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/powershell-script-as-a-package.html

It looks like you can run locally leveraging Desktop Central. You aren't doing powershell remoting.

      Thanks -
Guess it will have to do... sigh.

I wonder if you can run powershell scripts by typing powershell first?

Is there a way to copy files to the computers with ME?

      Seems like it is possible.

I have one client (well, x-client now) that just moved away from it because the new owners used something else, but up to the beginning of June, they were on it with no issues.

Unless "paying for something that has a negative impact on them" is an issue. To a business, that is always an issue. It's a "loss event" just like any other, similar to a small outage or dataloss. It's a business mistake that causes measurable lost revenue and puts other revenue at risk. So while a hobby could classify it as "not having any issue", no actual business can.

@gjacobse Set up the Hyper-V host from scratch about 60-75 minutes up to date.

Set up the required base OS virtual machines about 45-60 minutes (count does not matter).

Greenfield Active Directory, OUs, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, Folders, and Shares about 45-60 minutes.

Import and configuration of base GPOs about 60 minutes.

Exchange on-premises about 30 minutes post Exchange install.

Script to set up users, their groups, and their mailbox about 60 minutes.

Time to run the script: 60 seconds.

      Done.

User count does not matter. All in PowerShell.

And yes, all of our clients are on-premises Exchange.

EDIT: We charge a flat fee for the above.

It can cause some seriously hard to track down problems with Windows applications. Like it's 90% of the app is working but 10% is not.

Like most third party AV. That's why that stuff has been a "no no" for years.

@gjacobse said in Outlook 2016/o365: Sent items issue:

Thus far, nothing has resolved this issue.

      As the install was Office 365;
      Deleted OST file
      Deleted User Mail profile
      Online repair
      Un-installed Office 365
Cleared application / user folders - rebooted
      Installed Office 2016

      The only other thing i can think of is;

Backup user data, wipe the drive (2 min max as it is a nvm drive) Image and restore user data.

This is an odd issue to say the least. I am hoping the o365 team can determine a solution rather than having to go that route.

I feel like you're shooting a shotgun in the woods during a new moon and praying to hit a target.

If you don't have permission to make any changes because of GPO and you have no visibility in office 365. Then just escalate the issue. Otherwise it's just a time waste for all involved.

Lol- I did. The O365 team kicked to the IR Team ( incident response), who closed it as I was working ...

Guess I’ll just have to reimage it ,.,.,

@travisdh1 said in UniFi Product stream:

I forget off the top of my head which device it is,

The UniFi Access system consists of four elements:

UA Controller: The control center for your Access system, hosted on the UniFi Dream Machine Pro (UDM-Pro). Your UA controller is easily upgradable and offers a host of features that simplify access policymaking as well as personnel, space, and device management.

UA-Hub: A secure I/O hub that authenticates inputs registered by your Access readers (UA-Pro & UA-Lite), push buttons, and sensors. Your UA Hub can also control door locks, alarms, and motorized door openers.

UA-Pro and UA-Lite: The Access system's card or motion reading devices that unlock doors with a swipe of an NFC card or NFC-enabled mobile phone. Please refer to the Current and Future Access Modes section below for more information on current and future access methods.

UA-Card: A NFC card that is specific to your Access system and encrypted with a special algorithm that cannot be replicated, unlike other NFC cards. Your Access system will support any NFC card, so you can retain your current access cards.

It was the Dream Machine Pro I was thinking of. The reviews I've seen all say that if you have to buy a Dream Machine Pro just for the access control that you're better off going with the competition who's overall price will be lower.

That applies if you aren't planning on using the other stuff the Dream Machine is capable of. It's a single device that can manage all of your AP's, Security Cameras, Door Access and soon VoIP. Depending on the use I would think it would be worth it provided you are getting the functionality you want out of it.

That's sounding like a great product for the home, I'll have to keep my eye on them.

It's really not. Think of your home like a business. This is a product for a business that has confused itself with a home.

Sounds like it's not a product for business

It is not, probably not even a serious house product, just something that looks neat to play with (expensive toy.)

What even makes it look neat? To me, being junk, makes it far less interesting than normal gear. Like you are used to a Ferrari and then someone comes along with this Yugo. Yeah... not interesting, at all. Not even as a gadget, because there's nothing special, just crappier versions of what we already use.

Normal people see SPOG and just love it.. one ring to rule them all - that's what makes it 'neat'
neat doesn't make it good or worth while.

Like humans with rings of power. So lame.

I'm guessing the sort by date is an error that has crept in (like the overlapping printer issue they had for over 3 years).

I've noticed it shorts by date for the last several months or more... in my case it has worked out, but I can see where others wouldn't want it.

As it turns out, it is called

      Text with Layout

It uses txtlyt32.cnv which is in the (x86)\common file\Microsoft shared\Textcnv

It is a standard MS-DOS text file with layout, or fixed columns.

@gjacobse said in Control network shares with DNS-:

      This is a new one on me,.. I don’t have much more than this;

. State has AD tree with multiple domains.
. Network shares ‘require’ local DNS record for a agency domain.
. Displayed list shows servers and IPs and Host A record

I’ve never heard of controlling shares with DNS. I may be able to get more information from that team, but they are in the middle of a pilot user domain to domain migration.

Shares may be assigned to users via GPO and restricted to certain computers (here's your need for DNS).
OR they may be using AD and GPO to create shares on remote computers.

GPO Loopback is for the first option:
      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/troubleshoot/windows-server/group-policy/loopback-processing-of-group-policy
