@Pete-S said in Zoho Mail has new secure sending option:

    @Dashrender Good to know.

One purpose of the OTP is that you can't forward the email and have another person read it.

Not directly forward - sure, but you could screen shot it and forward that to someone.

I assume the OTP is more so that people don't have to create accounts in the Zoho system.

It looks like Zoho had the forwarding thing specifically in mind since they mentioned that on their website. A lot of people will forward messages without thinking about the sensitive information that is usually longer down in the mail. I've seen that a lot when I get emails forwarded to me with information that is clearly not intended for me.

In the MS system you have to create an account, same goes for Zix, even if you will only ever read this one message on that system.

Yeah, I hate that. It's just to get more users. I love OTP though.

I'll have to check how these secure feature works with sending huge mail attachments as well. Haven't tried it yet.

While I was waiting, I looked at pvecm status and found out it thought I had 4 nodes (see expected votes), when I only have 2 nodes.

    76a4d9f9-18ba-4fe5-af47-4ea037892bfc-image.png

I used pvecm expected 2 on both and suddenly the updates moved on and I was able to log in to the web interface immediately.

In the web interface, it showed a pve3 and pve4. These were some test setups I did months ago.
I deleted the nodes from the CLI and everything looks clean again.

Normally all we have to do is change it back.

That is not fixing the problem though. Simply working around it.

The problem is why do these tools not work under Wayland?

    Could easily be.
I'm not sure (maybe Windstream -- ugh) is the next hop up from one of our sites in NE Ohio and they were down all day Monday.
Some odd behavior with our cell service lately too. We have dead spots where we have never had issues before. Verizon, in this case.

The storms that came through earlier this week wrecked havock on infrastructure in NE Ohio. We still have roads closed and people we know are not due to get power restored till this weekend.

At work I've cleared a record number of tickets this week because we had so many outages.

@Aconboy said in Scale Computing VS Proxmox:

@stacksofplates Yes, we did in 2019. There are a couple of ways that can be done. When you snapshot a VM, any disk in that snap can be mounted to any other vm, provided that the logged in user is at a permissions level allowing it. That is actually part of the mechanism that several backup vendors (acronis, storware, etc) use to do agentless backups of Scale Computing VM's. If you haven't taken a look since 2018, you should take a look again as there has been so very many things added since then.

Well I guess I mean more without doing a snapshot. The flow we were looking for at the time was we had an ephemeral VM that would boot, mount the disk for storage, we could unmount the disk, destroy the VM, bring it up a new copy and remount the disk. The data disk wouldn't be in the snapshot since it only holds app state. Think of it like persistent volumes for k8s.

As an update to this, the issue is not resolved, but I purged a couple old nextcloud user accounts, that once deleted, and got enough space to get the needed users fully sync'd again.

Thanks for replying, and for the suggestions also. Because before that, I didn't know about the information you provided. However, I did a Google search yesterday and found this. According to that, it is possible to do the job. Please tell me, can I follow the instructions? Or please tell me if it is true or not.

Only way to know is to try following it. I've not done it, I don't need MS accounts. Just give it a try and let us know.

@Pete-S Any Windows 10 licence will technically work in VM, from my experience.

Yeah, but we're talking about the embedded license key that sits in the BIOS of the computer (when it comes with Windows OEM).

In a VM the guest can't access the BIOS of the host so it shouldn't be able to retrieve the embedded Microsoft licensing key. Unless the hypervisor makes it available to the guest.

The embedded licensing key is used automatically by the Windows installer and it will install Windows without asking the user for a key.

Back in the day there would be sticker on the bottom of the computer with the licensing key. But now it's stored in the BIOS somewhere and the sticker only has a windows logo on it.

Seems like a good time to try convincing the boss we should move our emails to O365. I know he'll say no, but this is ammo for sure.

I don't think that email only justify cost of O365.
I have excellent mail experience with different web hosting providers that provide email service included for a fraction of price of O365.

For example, Hetzner offers 300GB space with unlimited mail accounts for 17 EUR / cca. 20 USD a month.
(I have not used Hetzner's mail services but I have very good experinece with them in cloud/bare metal services)

I mean - you would not convince me to buy O365 with this argument 🙂

Agreed. We already have O365, but I've been instructed to keep Exchange On-Prem exclusively. Sorry that wasn't implied more clearly.

Terminal should just be using OpenSSH.

This might be the issue. Will have a play after my holidays

In theory, Window's OpenSSH implementation is completely identical to the one on Linux and BSD. I can't way I've tested much in Windows 11, but on 10, it's definitely identical.

"Completely identical" is a bit of a stretch since it's a fork, so it has additions and changes and might not support everything the main project does. It's likely lagging behind the main project too.

But "works the same" or "practically the same" or "has the same code base"...

Microsoft only has one fork, so windows version shouldn't make any noticeable difference.

PS. In OP's case he has probably hasn't the right key in openssh. OpenSSH and Putty don't share their ssh keys. They are in different folders.

Correct - you should be using PJsip. Also as far as changing extensions, you can run into the same issue even if you use the same extension number but you change the channel driver from SIP to PJSIP. This is how I've accomplished the task for remote phones that you can't touch. From your EPM, issue a reboot. Then real quick, you change the extension to use PJSIP, go to EPM, and then do a rebuild. If you do it properly, the phone will then grab the new settings and reconfigure itself and work just fine. You can of course do the same thing if you are changing the extension number on it.

(btw - I hate emails as a communication tool)

I'm an "email first" person, it's my preferred tool for everything communications related. DeltaChat is great and is a WhatsApp / Telegram style chat client built on top of email. (That's actually a form of email client to check out just because it is interesting to see it and realize it is a mail client.) I've run email hosting businesses and run email for one of the world's biggest companies, so I'm pretty passionate about email 🙂

Zoho is definitely my number one. But it is proprietary.

If you want to see open source clients in action, I'd recommend starting with MailCow to see what is out there. RoundCube is big, too.
