@krisleslie - Was that a Dell order or HP?

We ended up ordering refurbs and have already installed them.

      slick

I migrated 66 accounts from Exchange 2003 to O365, uploading the Pst to O365 cloud.

Hard work but worked very well.

I could see time consuming, but I would have expected it to be that hard.

@jt1001001 We're close to 50/50 government/customer across all of our bulk plants. Interoffice we attempt to scan to a folder. I can't tell you how many times I saw someone print our a message and then FAX it. It sets my blood to boiling. If I mention that there's another, better, easier, more efficient, pleasing, justified way to do it, I get the 'that's nice, I'll do that next time' look. The owner has been pushing for better behavior. He seems to be getting good results. Hehe

yeah - only way to push this through is to make faxing super painful - remove all fax lines - place last remaining fax machine with an active line in your office behind a locked door (or where ever they can't access with you or your designee)... they will change quickly at that point.

@syko24 said in Is SMB 1.0 more vulnerable at the client level or server level:

On Windows 10 you can enable SMB1.0 Server or Client. Does enabling just the client side make the Windows 10 system vulnerable? What I am trying to figure out is if I have a special machine running XP and need to pull data from a share on it, can I enable SMB 1.0 client on a Windows 10 machine, connect a crossover cable and have the 10 machine pull data from the XP share safely? The 10 machine would then move the copied data onto the primary server running Windows Server 2016.

If this is a horrible idea are there any suggestions to make this a secure setup other than replacing the XP machine.

      Thanks

Both. We've seen Emotet gobble up an entire network where nothing has been done to patch for EternalBlue which is the exploit in SMBv1.

We remove it _everywhere we manage a network on all endpoints. Period. Full Stop.

So I ended up making a special trip because it was bothering the crap out of me. I brought a different usb drive with me to test. The replacement usb drive had the exact same problem. I plugged both drives into my laptop and both worked fine. Finally, I reformatted the drives from my laptop and then reconnected to the server and everything worked perfectly. I shutdown the server a couple times and did a couple cold boots just to make sure everything stuck and all was well. The original formatting of the drives were all NTFS so I am not sure what difference reformatting them from my laptop made but seemed to do the trick.

I appreciate all the feedback from everyone.

      Thanks again!!

I think the option we may go with is ehopper.com as it can be used in your browser, android, or ipad.

the Free option doesn't have anything that small business would need, no support line, no way of building your own menu. Located in NY. Limited to 1 POS with almost no features that Small Businesses need in Hospitality.

I was also looking at aronium.com which is a free Windows POS software. It has a lot of potential but no merchant services options yet.

Based in Russia, No pricing on Website for Upgrades , All feaures seen are basic, No Storage of information was offered in the features section.

@syko24 said in POS recommendation for a small bar:

Run on Windows or possibly just browser based - not looking for iPad or Android App (screens are too small)

This is a horrible requirement. I've never seen staff have problem with a tablet based system due to the form factor.

How could it be too small? And if that is truly a problem, I have seen systems with oversized tablets. Used one to day as a customer when I took my wife's car to the carwash.

I have a client looking to move from some old shitty Windows based POS to something tablet based in fact.
      https://www.republicofit.com/topic/19543/anyone-heard-of-rezku-pos

I agree that there are larger sized Android tablets that could work. I have also looked at some of the Android emulators like BlueStacks.com . The reason I had said Windows was a requirement was because the two owners (both in their 70s) are familiar with Windows. Plus they want to use hardware they already own. It's called shit we got πŸ™‚ .

So, here's what I tell my customers when they say that they want to use their own hardware:
I can bring in a bag of food to your restaurant, give it to you and say go cook this like you cook your (insert Food found at restaurant - usually steak for example) and you will?
lets say you do, but it comes out under Par for the standard of your restaurant, then what?
I'd obviously still want a steak, are you going to replace that steak with one of yours for the same price im paying your chief to cook it?

for bars; am I allowed to bring my own alcohol into the bar?
lets say I bring in stuff for a mixed drink, will you make it with what I have?
(they usually stop me here. and say no,)

So think about it like this/ explain it like this: your clients will not allow someone to bring their own liquor/cups/food into their place of business where they offer a service and have a standard of business and guarantee for their product and services.

That's not exactly the same thing - at least in cases where the POS system does allow you to provide your own hardware.

How many of those tablet based solutions make you buy your own iPads/Android tablets?

I know for sure HRPOS says to buy your own.
Makes it better/easeir that way for support.

For aloha and Brink the analogy works, And for the last 6 years we only sold Aloha.

This is a salesman gimmick to sell this system. Definitely not something a hired consultant should ever use. For the consultant, it should be about what's best for the buyer.

Sure, other peoples equipment is a headache.
      We dont support it.
In few cases, we let it go and help people out but they pay us to set up the terminals.
cause it's not a part of our Business Model to allow customer equipment in the site.

Does the message trace in Exchange tell you anything? I know that when I had on-prem exchange and barracuda, I had weird issues where the attachment size restrictions being smaller/more restrictive on the Exchange server exhibited this behavior. The barracuda delivered, but Exchange rejected due to policy.

I feel like there should be a hunt feature on the ATA itself that would allow me to start with port1 and then move on to the next if port1 is occupied.

How would this work when one ATA has no idea about the next one?

Use a Grandstream HT701 with 4 sub accounts on VoIP.ms.

Each sub account will be an extension in the VoIP.ms ring group or hunt group.

Simplest and easiest thing to do.

Thanks @JaredBusch I knew I was over complicating this setup. I like the idea of treating the β€œlines” as extensions from VOIP.MS and putting them in a ring group setup with the hunt option.

As always thank you for your expertise.

I actually came across that as well. Looks pretty interesting. Not sure i understand the billing for that though. If you use it they charge per character during that month or $4/ 1 million characters. But if you don't use it do you still pay the $4/month?

The voices it generates are pretty good though. Thanks for the suggestion!

      https://mangolassi.it/topic/12327/setting-up-a-sip-trunk-in-freepbx-13/2

Thanks again! So I assume you are using pjsip from phones to pbx and chan_sip on your trunks? Or have you completely switched everything to chan_sip at this point?

PJSIP on phones to PBX. Always.

The key differences in PJSIP are server side enhancements. Nothing removed a SIP communication bit.

I use both SIP and PJSIP for trunks. I always try PJSIP first. If I have issues with a provider, I will switch it to SIP.

...eat a dick, dualmon. I shan't turn off my ad blocker for you or anyone... and besides, your entire site still functions 100% with the adblocker turned on, so suck on that. Ads blocked, new computers added, I win.

Is that happening with adblock, pi-hole or both?

Usually those types of things don't happen with pi-hole, another blessing of using pi-hole over browser based ad blockers.
