The Linux world is complex enough for normal users. BSD just pushed them that much farther over the edge.

Of course, for that price and specs, you could just get a Chromebook and put Linux on it.

Oh yeah, that makes more sense. LOL.

@zachary715 said in Congressional Pharmacist Accidentally Tells That Some Congresspeople Have Alzheimer's!:

It's fairly common knowledge (speculation) that one of our Senators has Alzheimber's, Dementia, or something of the like, yet somehow this knowledge wasn't enough to get him dethroned during his most recent election. When you've been there long enough and have some clout, people just get scared of losing that power and with it losing money for your state.

That's because voter's tend to be sheep that'll vote for the person they've always voted for.

Remember the comedy about it with Eddie Murphy?

I saw that and just had to laugh, because these people and governments don't understand what encryption means and is meant to do.

@scottalanmiller said in Microsoft Announces Merging of Skype for Business into Teams:

I've been on G Suite for two weeks and so far my impression is that provisioning is broken, GMail is actually just as bad as Exchange, and Keep is the only good thing that they make. Google Docs aren't bad, but not great. That they are fast and completely hosted is nice, but they are no LibreOffice, that's for sure. Hangouts and Meet are crippled to the point of useless. Hoping once @Romo takes over management of G Suite that he can sort some of this out. But overall, not impressed, at all.

Why'd you go G Suite over MS?

Already in place, and with engineering moving with pedal to the floor, not a good time to rip and replace the existing infrastructure. Won't put in MS, though. We've got zero dependency on that stuff, no reason to consider Exchange.

Because of this contract, now the government has a stake in the game. They will probably do a full investigation to see if their information was compromised, who was incompetent, who made the decisions, etc.

This contract with the IRS that was just rewarded on Friday?

I doubt there will be any governmental or organizational blow back. Everyone is already on to the next big thing that comes from twitter.

      Not an LTS release.

      But does it matter?

It does if you are a person that wants LTS (e.g. you hate keeping your systems up to date) and like run Ubuntu LTS, and want to update LXC and this would cause an LTS conflict.

I shared this with my team. I think this may be a Windows killer, but everyone else is skeptical. What do you guys think?

The Windows killer is "customers with a clue" and "the capability to move to modern software". Put those together, nearly everyone can drop Windows. Not everyone, but most everyone.

@marcinozga said in Reiser4 Update for Linux:

Um, I don't know how I really feel about it. Reiser was mediocre file system to begin with, XFS was much better in every possible use case, and still is. If anything, they should rename the damn thing, having a name after murderer is never a good thing.

ReiserFS was really great at handling massive numbers of tiny files. That was its strong suit. It was good enough that Suse used it by default.
