This is not the case at home, but has definitely been my experience when roaming around town.. it used to be worth connecting to something like StarBucks WiFi, but now - StarBucks is nearly useless, and Cellular data is way better.

Depends really. I travel enough regionally to have learned where it is better to hit WiFi and where it is better to tether to my mobile.

@scottalanmiller While I think the scope of the request is a bit broad and has privacy concerns for other people not related to those arrested. I do not believe that there is an issue with the government trying to see if the people that were arrested did go to that website and did plan. It changes what charges and what sentencing can be rendered so it is pertinent to the case. I believe it should be a more narrow request than what it was.

Right, a narrow, appropriate request would be for the court case. This is not what a warrant related to the court case would look like.

I also know though you always ask for the moon and then settle for what you really want.

If they get the chance to do that. And you don't ask for the moon when it makes it into a court case exposing your department for corruption and an attack on the American people and the appearance of attempting to stifle free speech in order to promote a political agenda.

No, for the things that happened at work that should have been recorded.

That's how you get yourself beaten.

They actually got security camera footage of a government official shoving an employee.

Harder to beat up and intimidate a mounted camera in the corner.

@irj said in UK To Fine Some Service Agencies if Found with Inadequate Security:

Most of the time it is just cheaper to pay the fine rather than practice good security. I recently read about a health organization that had a million records compromised. They were fined $3.5 million, so about $3.50 a record. Alot of companies figure it is better to just take the chance and even if you do get hacked it is still cost less than having a good security program.

That's often the case. Same thing with credit cards. Cheaper to pay for bad transactions than to pay for better security in the cards.

Yeah. These companies get rewarded for not having security. Just because you have terrible security, doesnt mean you will get breached either. How many are flying under the radar that we don't know about?

No the bigger question is, how many have been breached that they aren't aware of it, and the effects are low enough that it's not tripping any alarms?

Any good breach will be that way - no one knows except that data is out there, somewhere.

All those people are going to die too, but they may not have had as many life affirming, visceral experiences.

You're right that everyone is going to die.

But what matters, A LOT, is how you spend your last living 10-20+ years.

Do you want to be bedridden or otherwise unable to live comfortably last 20 years of your life?

People are generally living longer now due to medicine. This means if you are in bad condition at 60... well then good luck for your next 30 years!

You'll be wishing you cared more when you were 40 or 50. It's never too late to start caring, of course, until it's actually too late.

I'm 43, eat/drink/smoke what I want, enjoy life, and have never felt better. Lemmy said it best... "I don't want to live forever". Being old is horrible no matter how healthy your habits, and I definitely don't want to get that old, whatever age that may be. Once the quality has gone out of your life, there's zero reason to let modern medicine keep you alive a couple more decades, that's just insane.

It's better to burn out than it is to rust...

ReactOS, the open source recreation of Windows NT

Why? If you haven't moved passed NT by now, its about time to just wipe the slate clean and start all over because the time and money you're going to spend trying to upgrade everything to the latest and greatest is going to be absurd.

All modern Windows systems are built on top of Windows NT. Windows 10 is on NT version 10.

Yep. Kernel changes very little. All the other stuff that you actually interact with changes lots.

It's neat because it is a rare test where basically only the kernel is different. So you really get to see Linux vs. NTKernel rather than artefacts of the entire stack.
