Not so much - and more than. Some of it is getting the parts list needed.

I've ripped YouTube videos to watch offline.

Never run the controller for my home ap at home? Curious -

If you have a VM infrastructure at home, and will dedicate (it can generally be turned off) a VM to it, then at home is fine.

The units tie themselves to the unique ID each controller install generates, so you cannot just pop up a new controller, configure it and have the PA get the info. It will not do it.

Like to know more about this... How you have yours set up.

I have a VM dedicated to it on one of our Hyper-V servers colocated in a datacenter. This controller runs all of the UniFi AP for our home office workers and all of our small clients with only 1 AP at a site.

lol. Why would you want to make short cables (aside from patch cables). The shortest I've made is about 2 inches. (Full Admission: I did test it, but never used it, lol).

In practice, if I am making a non-standard length cable, I make it a little bit longer than I thik I need it to be.

The short cables are patch cables. I could go shorter than the six inches I made,.. but again, there stacked,.. old and a 'temporary' testing section.

However I may use this for 'field' use but that is unknown currently.

By field use,.. I mean a real field.

Why are you making patch cables.. buying in standard legths is much cheaper. making cables if you are paid more than min wage is expensive.

I'm making them for myself - so other than the plugs, I am out nothing.

Well I only loved it until Windows 7 came out.

Vista did have issues on initial release, most of which were completely fixed in SP1.

The strange thing for me was that OEM installs for the only time in history actually worked better than formatting and starting it over and only installing the drivers from the manufacture.

I also liked vista but it was really slow on even moderate hardware for the day - that's what killed it more than anything else IMHO. XP could run circles around it for speed on cheaper hardware.

From this thread (Error Code 13) it appears that some of the coding is a bit harsh in that it wants to install in a location not generally used for installing applications. And thus causes the issue.

Those are pretty normal locations for installing user apps that aren't system wide.

What type of headset is this? It may need a firmware update:
      http://www.plantronics.com/us/support/myheadset/updater/

Once you do that, you'll want to rebuild the bluetooth stack. Remove the device from your phone, power off, power back on, re-pair the bluetooth. That will rebuild the bluetooth stack and is best practice after updating firmware. (I spend A LOT of time on PLT's forums).

Also, I don't recommend the M series. They are the stupid cousin of the Voyager series.

Sadly my BT isn't any of those. It's the M55 - Just a simple unit.

      Oh, I'm sorry...

I use chromium based browsers rather than chrome itself which had ties into google (and isn't open source I believe).

How would you compare the two?

It's the same just without the Google Bits and you have to install the NPAPI version of flash rather than use a built-in one as you have to have a special distribution license for Flash and Reader (IT Departments even need to request a free one and keep it on file to install flash or reader on their computers).

I'm lost, isn't this javascript transmitted over SSL? I'm guessing not, but then the question is why not?

SSL is not allowed in China without a license for it. Even if you use it anyway, my understanding is that it is proxied and intercepted so it doesn't matter. But technically you are not even allowed to use SSL (SSL is a form of VPN which is a controlled access thing in China.)

This is basically a huge scale Lenovo issue and has been pointed to as to why it is considered acceptable by some people for why Lenovo attempted something similar - because they are so used to this type of thing in China that hijacking SSL security seemed natural while in the west it is unthinkable.

It's about what I thought - while cool it's not practical to try to drag old tech into the present. While the idea of having 'one' unit with four computer is kind of nice,... it's impractical.

And the power requirements are going to be higher.

After the power costs are considered getting something new from Dell or SuperMicro would actually probably cost less!
