Could something like this or similar be supplemental?

      Seems pretty silly.

      So here is the question....

What threat do you perceive there being? How do you feel this device addresses that thread?

I don't really see any threat in the first place, and so that makes it extra hard to know how to assuage your fears. But how this device is supposed to help, I'm really unsure.

@gjacobse We have a tower beside our house that is isolated from the house to prevent a dual-ground situation.

All cables that run into the house are completely isolated to prevent anything jumping in.

We had a client in Edmonton that had a fax modem and a fax service running on a PC. When we set it up the POTS line was grounded prior to running into the PC. Somewhere along the way something was moved around and the POTS line in from the wall got plugged in to the PC modem directly.

An active storm had a strike against the pole in the alley and sure enough besides the boom scaring the carp out of folks the PC was dead. When we opened it up the controller chip on the modem was literally blown out as was the chipset chip under the heatsink. Time for a new PC!

@scottalanmiller said in New Tablet Search:

Yeah, I get all that. But this is definitely just "normal USB", as it is a normal computer. Concepts unique to mobility don't apply here. So either OTG is a reference to all USB, or it's not applicable here. You would never call the USB port on your laptop or desktop OTG, and unless you do, you don't here.

But it's not a normal computer, it's a hybrid tablet running a Mobile/Tablet only OS utilizing a similar architecture to Android but with Chrome as it's UI instead of android.view/android.webkit.

Not really, it's running a desktop OS, ChromeOS. It's not similar to Android at all, it is in fact nothing but a normal laptop with no included keyboard. It's as much a desktop style device as any desktop you'd ever use. That the form factor is called a tablet is misleading, it would be like calling an iMac a tablet... the only difference between the two is one has a stand included, and one doesn't.

There is nothing "mobile" about this device. Other than it is easy to be mobile with it. Under the hood, it's identical to some of the world's most popular laptops, just with a keyboard sold separately.

@emad-r Huawei was also banned from from us for US Government jobs over these same concerns. As far as I know, Trump hasn't tweeted about this or made it his agenda (not that I follow the guy).

He 'banned' them, then was willing to not ban them once China agreed to allow a Trump casino in China.

Where and what am I working with - Ugh.. before I can say I have to make sure it's acceptable.

The DLink switches aren't horrible, but they aren't nice either, a lot of limited functionality. Things you'll miss now that you're supporting Dlink rather than Ubiquiti 🙂

I remember when DLink went to a SpiceWorld conference and tried to convince people that they made stuff for business, too. No one was fooled, though.

      Chromebook Tab 10

My initial concern with the ChromeOS line is that there are going to be some specific applications that I will want to run. Naming DroidPSK and 817 Companion - Ham Radio programs.

How is that an issue? It runs anything Android can run. So if those don't work on Android, why do you want an Android device?

It's not an issue if the ChromeOS will run them. I don't have the bases of ChromeOS, but did look at the CB Tab10, and it should work fine... so - I am open to it as an option.

Android apps can be installed on ChromeOS.

Nearly all of the Exchange issues I deal with right now really come from O365.

However I was asked about Exchange Mail Submission server that was throwing Event 1009, and effectively stopping mail flow. What he found via forum (not ML) searching was 'a back pressure issue, but the Event Log wasn't logging in back pressure messages'

While it's been four years since directly touching a Exchange system, the term 'back pressure' is not one I have heard before.

However, looking up Exchange Event 1009 give me a few options including limited disk space.

Has anyone come across the term 'Back Pressure' with Exchange in the past?

Yes, it is when the server is running out of space or resources for delivery of incoming emails

      Explanation:
      RASGTWY.DLL is missing or corrupted.
      User Action:
Either copy RASGTWY.DLL from your installation disks to the C:\WINNT\system32 directory or reinstall the Remote Access Service. Use the Network option in the Control Panel to remove and then reinstall the Remote Access Service.

Okay.. What/where i that. since RAS is not checked in Windows Features

Check the destination folder... C:\WINNT hasn't been used in... along time.

      Folder does not exist.

DC4 is a virtual machine. changes to it are likely over rode by the Hypervisor or physical hardware that were wrong.

By updating the physical hardware, and then running w32tm /resync the time updated.

The issue will resurface again as the BIOS is losing time and will be pulled again wrongly on the host. Have you tried not syncing the time of the VM through the Hypervisor and turning of Time Synchronization for this DC?

So far Telegram, Skype, and messenger work. When setting up messenger, I get a review recent login prompt and it shows Chrome for Linux. Does that mean Franz is built off of Chrome?

I think it's an electron app So it's chrome under the hood.

That makes sense now. Because I only see this message, when using Skype from a browser.

The daemom is written in python and takes forever to rebuild the db if you restart it… I had ~1Tb in 2 millions of files. The thing is, it keeps track of the file chunks of every files… sort of joins object storage and file storage together. Very bandwith efficent, but horrible on cpu and I/O. I switched to nextcloud that lacks that feature, but it’s much faster and flexible.
