Spectrum Sucks!!!
I gotta vent because no one here at work seems to get it. Back story, we are a school with 19 homes on campus (Profs live there) and dorms for 84 students. In September our deal for bulk TV was up. We renegotiated so we could get the TV and internet for the homes and all 84 student rooms (Main campus has fiber, students do not get individual internet) on one bill. Before the deal, 17 homes had Business Class internet @ 15 down and 2 up. 2 other homes had residential internet, which was separate from everything else. The deal was everything was included and the residences and student areas pay nothing.
November the deal goes live and Spectrum says, send your residents down to the local store and they can get their new modem and set top box. December comes and we get 4 new bills. One for the new agreement, one still charging for the business class at the 17 homes, 1 for the set top boxes, and one for the 2 other homes that had residential internet.
Call in December to attempt to get the bills squared away and they make adjustments to 3 of the residences and nothing else. Call again and no changes. Get a guy higher up and he is getting places until Spectrum cuts off what he used to be able to do and removes his ability to help us. We escalate and no one seems to be able to get their crap together.
We are now in March and TV services were getting shut off at homes even though we are getting credits on some bills but not others. The billing is now so eff'd up that we're spending most of our time going through bills, credits, and charges to figure out what we should and shouldn't pay.
We actually just reached out to our state reps this morning because we were told by one of our Spectrum reps that we are in violation of the contract.
Worst part of all of it is there isn't another service provider that could match the services, if they were all working.

Any former military here?
I spent 4 years in the Marines. Was curious if anyone else spent time in the service.

RE: IT rock bottom
I also know how that is. My first MSP job was the same way. I was tasked with getting Kaseya up and running. Then it snowballed from there. New job responsibilities, no support, no help, and of course, no increase in pay. Stayed there for 3 years and then finally called my boss a fat lazy bastard and left. I didn't just burn the bridge I poured gas on it and stood on the other side laughing.

vMotion causing glitches on moved machines
I'm posting in the VMWare forums as well but curious to know why when I move a machine live via vmotion it causes the machine to get a corrupt file system. Usually in /dev/sda1/ on a linux box but has also happened on windows boxes as well.

Agents still not checking in
I know you're working on things but I just wanted to report that none of my machines have checked in since at least May26th. I've rebooted, restarted Salt-Minion to no change.
That is all

RE: Linode host not allowing 80/443
All good. I dove way too deep on this one
Turns out when I upgraded Moodle I forgot to put a log directory back in place and it was failing on the Apache restart.

RE: What would you do...
I haven't been in the MSP/break-fix side of things for 8 years now but if I had to assist a competitor on getting their shit in order to finish the job I would have to say: YOU'RE FIRED!
You had my proposal, you chose another vendor, your problem.

RE: Who is Hostadillo?
I would like to add that during a recent website outage that I was having, Scott and other members of the thread were helping me out. Scott then asked some questions that lead him to mentioning Hostadillo. I asked if it was his company and he did say that it is his company. Scott was very helpful in working to get my site transferred to his hosting services. I don't see any issue or lack of transparency on SAM's end.

Feature Request - Spiceworks ticket history import
I know I asked this before and this has been noted in another thread. But I figured I'd make it an official request. Ticket history import from spiceworks. I only need the info like email (user) and ticket data. Most of my users do not match to a machine in SW for some reason.

How did you get the old profile into the new profile on the new domain?
Standard Copy/Paste - Copy from old profile to a folder on the C drive named Old Profile. Removed from Domain, reboot, add to domain, reboot, log in as user, logout, log in as domain admin, give user local admin rights, reboot, log in as domain admin and copy profile to new user profile.
yeah - that's your problem - that won't work. The files have internal permissions that aren't simply part of the file system permissions. You have to do an import/export to make things work correctly.
If you were staying on the same domain, then you MIGHT have gotten lucky with something like that because SIDs and other identifiers would be the same, but that's not the case here.
User state migration tools would have definitely been the better way to go.
At this point, I think you should backup their documents, favorites, etc, then wipe out that profile and have them create a new one, then copy the files over you want to save into that profile.
Perfect. This is mid testing so I only have one profile to redo

Coding PC/Kit?
A while back there was a discussion about a PC that was good for kids to code on. Came as a kit, about $300 or so. I was trying to find that thread but haven't been able to. it is my daughters birthday and she wants to learn to make her own games.
Can anyone tell me what that kit/pc was?
Thanks,

Remove machine from control center
I am having an issue with a VM not checking in. I think it is because I had to restore the VM from backup and something got hosed with it. I just want to delete it from my CC all together and start over with that machine. I have uninstalled Salt-Minion from the VM but it still shows in my CC. How do I remove it from there?
