Why not? Or to put it another way, what are the risks to using HTTPS? How does it fail?
It can only fail if two conditions are met. DNS poisting to move the website, however this would have to be a new website you've never visited before because CA's will not issues the cert for a domain to someone else. Which means the same vulnerability exists when using your home connections. It must be a trusted/known site and be HTTPS.
