      Why in a phone, i don't know?

Xiaomi smartphone has 108 megapixel camera

I wonder what's the size of avg 108MP image, it's probably near 100MB. TB+ storage in phone would be in order too.

      Up to 40MB per image.

But 108 megapixel is just a big number for marketing. Most people don't know the difference between pixel count and image resolution.

Simplified, image resolution is how much detail is visible. And that is really what you are after, but not what you are going to get. You'll simply get a lot of pixels without much detail.

Also, the optics and sensor are more important than the Mp count.

@scottalanmiller Yikes. That sucks. Kind of like getting a new phone number that used to be used for faxing.

I don't know of any home users still on 7. Nobody keeps a device that long, and would have something later than Win7.

My Dad does. He also refuses to stop using his even older Windows XP computer for some offline tasks.

Where are the webroot deals for 3 personal devices for <$6? I haven't seen any since August and now I am running Sophos free while I wait for another deal. Sophos is OK, but everything has to be managed via the web portal. Need to whitelist a PUP?- login to the web portal and type out the name of the program. Meh.

    • Pertino - Is Anyone Successfully Using Any Version Above 510 with DNS/AD Connect?

I have been having a heck of a time getting Pertino off the ground here. I trailed it last year and it worked fine. When I finally get purchase approval, I can't get it to work. It is one thing after the next.

      Problem:
I tried using apt-get on an ubuntu server and the installer would fail. Although, now apt-get is working.

      Solution:
Download the .deb package and install it manually.

      Problem:
Installed 520 on my DCs. That caused a nightmare for me. Pertino prevented the dynamic records updating somehow but since I installed it on Friday and came back Monday, I didn't realize what was happening. All the systems that had gotten new DHCP addresses and so I would try connecting to a machine that has nothing to do with Pertino (on my LAN) via hostname and started seeing crossed records/IP addresses. It took me several hours to realize it was Pertino that was causing the problems. Uninstall Pertino client from the DCs and DNS records started updating as clients' IPs changed. This problem still exists in version 528, which was released last night.

      Solution:
Pertino support sent me links for the 510 client and installed on all my DCs.

      Problem:
Can't get traffic to flow through the pertino gateway feature

      Solution:
TBD. I have been working with Pertino support for almost 3 weeks and have not been able to get this working. I have torn down and built a couple Ubuntu server VMs at least 10 times in different versions and also Centos in different versions. Nothing has worked.

Nebula VPN routes between hosts privately, flexibly, and efficiently
      https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/12/nebula-vpn-routes-between-hosts-privately-flexibly-and-efficiently/

"Last month, the engineering department at Slack—an instant messaging platform commonly used for community and small business organization—released a new distributed VPN mesh tool called Nebula. Nebula is free and open source software, available under the MIT license.

It's difficult to coherently explain Nebula in a nutshell. According to the people on Slack's engineering team, they asked themselves "what is the easiest way to securely connect tens of thousands of computers, hosted at multiple cloud service providers in dozens of locations around the globe?" And (developing) Nebula was the best answer they had. It's a portable, scalable overlay networking tool that runs on most major platforms, including Linux, MacOS, and Windows, with some mobile device support planned for the near future."

      Uninstall/reinstall - Check

Native American rain dancing is what I was missing...

I took German in high school for a couple of years. When I first saw Duolingo a couple years ago, I started German again for a few months but got busy with other things and eventually stopped. It was great, though. I have always wanted to become fluent.

      So in summary-

Pertino 520+ builds break my DNS when installed on my DNS servers
Pertino gateway does not allow any pertino network traffic to pass through it in my experience. I have tried Ubuntu Server 14.04.3, Ubuntu Server 15.10 and CentOS 7 all with Pertino builds 510, 520, 526 and 528.

After some careful consideration, I realized I can do like 95% of my work on my iPad through the various social, cloud, and productivity apps.

This is my current setup that I'm testing out. Anker Bluetooth keyboard, my iPad Mini, and a cardboard box so that my neck doesn't get tired from looking down.

I'll probably upgrade to a refurbished 9.7" Pro at some point, but so far, so good.

I like the idea, but the screen is just way too small. The biggest thing for me is the lack of mouse.

That is why you have fingers. Plus, he said it was an iPad mini. I'm sure a regular iPad would not work just the same.

      FTFY 😛

@MattSpeller @JaredBusch In all honesty, I got the LR because it was the one that was in stock and was only a few bucks more. Is it that much better in terms of signal range? Probably not, but I was really tired of my old setup and I am happy with this one.
