    • RE: Your personal information just isn't safe

Neither Target nor Experian are companies entrusted with data. One is just a retailer and the other is a company that collects, often false, credit data against the will of the people. Experian's customers aren't the people and so it feels no responsibility beyond what is legally enforced which is nearly nothing.

PowerShell! Everyone loves a PS talk. My guess is that there should be more than one. Maybe an entry level one to get people started then a more advanced one that focuses on a specific PS topic or task.

Maybe a few "101" sessions would make sense then?

You could have a Storage 101 and a Virtualization 101 and maybe even a Linux 101 for people to get a taste of when and where to think about deploying Linux and to get a feel for the state of the Linux ecosystem as it stands today.

Raspian, the official OS for the Raspberry Pi, has a new default web browser replacing Midori, Epiphany. The biggest improvements are in speed, it launches up to three times faster than its predecessor and can play YouTube videos in 720p.

    • RE: Azure Storage Emulator

Azure has its own object storage mechanism (similar to Swift in OpenStack or S3 in Amazon AWS) so to allow you to learn or test behavior they have an emulator so that you can mimic that storage locally.

Also, any general advice on managing vendor remote access to get the right balance between security and simplicity. Am I being too paranoid/controlling?

Not at all. External vendors, for the most part, need to be tightly controlled. If you have a full time MSP that you trust and is part of your normal support, that's different, you'd treat them like internal staff. But for software or appliance vendors that only need access once in a great while and only for special things they should expect tight gateways controlling their access and no privacy.
