You need to start with programming basics. I'd probably start with just doing some programming before jumping into Java and Android. Maybe get started with Python and a more basic programming class.

This one is a pretty big surprise. Apply a normal database update and suddenly your licensing might increase by $23,000 per CPU! Watch out for this if you are running Oracle databases!

I'm with @DustinB3403 the two are not separate things. You use a job to live, and a major part of living is your job. Find a job that makes you happy and you will almost certainly enjoy your life.

As a tool for learning PHP, this should work well. No database needed, just a simple mailer. A single PHP "page" app. Great place to start.
