Postcards basically looks just like Textable, but is free.

OK huh - free? that seems unexpected... but, I'm guessing SMS between carriers is generally free nowadays... soooo....

You still pay for your SMS usage

In that case - Assuming all of your customers are on carriers that have an email to SMS gateway - you can do this completely free through email.

Now to discover that, you'll have to do some work - find what carriers are in use by your customers, then check for a gateway... that could be time consuming.. but hey - could really pay off with a free solution.

Encourage to make indoor soccer, indoor tennis, volleyball, and basketball. There is enough empty space for both.

Southroads mall in Omaha, Nebraska USA enclosed a colo type business many many years ago.

Not a big fan of Amazon in terms of supporting the tax base, but still uses the roads. Sports courts and CoLo.

Hold the phone - someone else in Omaha area joined ML?

My closest to any of theses is Juneau Alaska. Didn't make the list, but before their JAWS system to measure wind shear off the mountains, it was a difficult landing to say the least. It used to require a 180 degree turn during last stages of descnet.

Thank you all for the input. I'm trying to decide between the PEPWAVE and the Netgear. The Netgear has some bad reviews, but your remarks will keep it in the list to explore. I'll let you know how it works out for us when I get one in and test it.

I considered Interworxs before mainly because of its cluster support. It is a stable control panel.
The truth is I am slowly moving out of the Control Panel thing (I am not a traditional shared hoster). I just have some servers with cPanel because some clients still want it

Yeah, we do commercial hosting and don't use it because it is costly and just cripples the service.

Maybe I'm old and don't get worked up as easily anymore; but I can tell you that if they can get this resolved tomorrow, I'll be quite satisfied. My frustration was with the agent that was on the phone, it was beyond her ability to comprehend that there could be a problem with something other than the equipment at the customer location.

See, and I would see that as her manager deciding to use someone like that to shield the company from doing their job. Anyone can be stumped, but why didn't she escalate and do proper support rather than coming up with excuses to shut you down?

I agree. And this doesn't lead me to dumping them yet.

There is a big difference between and idiot gatekeeper and a company's willingness to fix it. I believe the girl and her manager should be fired.

If every person dumped every vendor for a single bump in the road. There would be no vendors in the world.

By the way. The issue is resolved. The local engineer reach someone in the Ashburn DC and they addressed the issue during the night.

The thing you have to remember is - Scott has experience with practically every vendor that's ever vended in the US (and likely more around the world as well). As such, he has seen how horrible or honorable they are in a massive amounts of situations... so when he's saying to dump someone, it's not based solely upon your single posted issue.. it's because of his know experience with said vendor in the past.

Note - I sorta say this tongue in cheek, sorta not 😉

@JasGot said in Duplicati Retention Policy, which do YOU choose?:

      The options are:
      Keep all backups
      Delete Backups older than
Keep a Specific number of backups
      Smart backup retention
      Custom

Which do you use and why? I am interested in your choice and why you choose it.

Generally NO longer than legally required. Unless the legal requirement is something really lax. You generally dont want to keep data for longer than 7 years in any circumstance where there is no legal requirement, because you can become legally obligated to share data in a court case or something of that sort.

Exactly. Desired retention is more like 6 months. Only legal requirements make us go longer.

      sucks..

      what is call flip option?

It is a variation of blind transfer. Example scenario: You are speaking on the phone at your desk and you need to leave the building. You press a soft key on your desk phone and your smartphone starts ringing. Since it was some sort of a blind transfer, when you answer the call on your smart phone, the call becomes live on the smartphone and disconnects from the desk phone. the person on the other end of the call does not hear any hold music or tones during the flip.

and that's different from a blind transfer how?

I should have asked the difference between flip and call forwarding?

What version of .net is installed on the server?

I'm failing to remember which version of Powershell had a hard but silent requirement for a particular version of .net.
If memory serves it would install successfully (no errors) but would actually fail to install if the correct ver of .net was not already installed.

Just wanted to report back say this little switch was the perfect item for my need. It has been installed for over a month now and I have been very pleased with it. Not that it is doing anything special, it just does its job!

We are using it indoor and we mounted its own little bracket to a single gang wall plate, then installed the wall plate, then attached the switch to its bracket. It makes for a clean install where there once was an ethernet wall jack.

Everything about it is Unifi, so if you are familiar with the Unifi System, this runs like any other Unifi switch.

I guess you could cycle the screenconnect client service. That should do the same.

This did it; thanks. It's the only working solution short of a reboot. I did not want to connect to the client with SC so I pushed a re-install, it was current, so it just went through the motions and restarted the services. Perfect for my needs.

Really it just depends on the type of business, people and location. If they're down to earth, well all of what you mentioned would be a great idea to put on.

This is good, all of our customer are down to earth and easy going, so I appreciate you saying this.

Definitely do a directory setup because you want to demo that feature.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was thinking this would be so easy and so impressive. Couldn't NOT do it!

@JaredBusch said in Yealink will not register with VitalPBX, Wrong password:

@Romo said in Yealink will not register with VitalPBX, Wrong password:

@JaredBusch The device is tied to the numeric extension, it lets you set the device's username to whatever you want.

The better question is why are you even thinking this is a good idea?

What benefit are you thinking you are gaining by using a non-standard approach?

All this does is complicate things by putting a random value in a place that is normally something that matches the extension. This is a 1 to 1 tie between this informaiton and the extension. There is no benefit to this.

Only after you've pigeon-holed yourself into that 1 to 1 relationship.

No, it is a 1 to 1 relationship regardless of if you use the extension or a name or a fuck01.

That auth name is 100% tied 1 to 1 to the extension.

I am an Intermedia Reseller and I can't stand their system. Plus as a partner, the end user cannot call Intermedia for support. This is no fun.

Are you looking for a reseller/partner solution? Then I would look at 3CX They have the business model.

Yes. I want to interact with the end user for config of features only (OS and app maintenance handled by anyone other than me) and I want revenue from the sale of hardware and setup, and I want recurring revenue from monthly fees. The recurring revenue must be charged to me so I can bill the customer at my rates.
