Demo VoIP phone DSS Key programming - What do YOU do?
-
I am preparing some phones for demo. These phones will not be part of the existing phone system of the potential customer, but I'd like them to be able to play with them for a couple of days for evaluation.
If there are three phones that are going out to the demo site; what would you program in those phones?
My first thoughts are:
- Me!
- One of the other phones
- the other one of the phones
- the office number of their existing office phone system
- the local pizza place
Other's
Spouse's cell phone?
Co worker's cell phone?
A directory setup with all their co workers or vendors?I also thought I'd let them choose some others after the phones are dropped off, to demonstrate how quick and easy it is to manage their phones.
etc?
Thanks for your thoughts.

@JasGot This would depends entirely on how stupid the users are.
Most users cannot do anything of the sort without a lot of hand holding.
THen it gets into what are you wanting them to update. the BLF/Seeddials? Well that then also gets into the Phone vs PBX User interface.
basically the answer is I don't. I drop a phone with a user and some buttons preset. I then also instruct them how to 10 digit dial. Nothing else.

I wouldn't bog them down with too many shortcuts for dialing right off the bat, maybe just a few if they are of a dumber intellect.
If you know whom they call most, then certainly add numbers like that, I would avoid personal numbers though, keep it business only.
Really it just depends on the type of business, people and location. If they're down to earth, well all of what you mentioned would be a great idea to put on.
Definitely do a directory setup because you want to demo that feature.
Walk through conference calling, call forwarding, any programming they can do, headsets, call parking, blind and consultative transfers.

ditto
My client then later asked for more of the buttons to be preprogrammed - so I did that through their MAC files on the server, and rebooted the phones - tada, added buttons. -

I plan to provide some programmed buttons to make their lives easier when we install the system.
I don't want them updating anything; we will do that.
I guess I could have been more clear and said "I also thought I'd let them choose some others after the phones are dropped off, to demonstrate how quick and easy it is FOR US to manage their phones."I am looking for ideas of what might be handy to have programmed in for them to experience on the demo unit; keeping in mind it only has extension access to the other demo devices and the outside world.

This is good, all of our customer are down to earth and easy going, so I appreciate you saying this.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was thinking this would be so easy and so impressive. Couldn't NOT do it!
