@IRJ one of the best games ever made. Have you tried the new update?

I havent played it too much after the turn of the century. When it first came out, I used to play it everyday.

MSPs have rarely ever used it. It has no accommodations for them. But even for normal shops the abandonment rate seems to be skyrocketing. V7 and later have been very unpopular. And lots of recent security concerns.

The reason we left was high resource consumption. SolarWinds runs off a Linux Appliance and uses much less resources.

I dont think its a big problem. None of our users have admin rights except IT. This includes the CEO and all the other Execs.

I cant believe some people refuse to upgrade. I understand having a couple PCs that are still XP, but I know many IT people who still have at least 1/3 of their PCs on XP.

This test is really easy compared to other Microsoft Tests. If you have been studying for MCSA or MCSE and have gone over Hyper-V at all, you should be able to pass.

No simple answer. Most products like Pertino, are just going to an SSL site on 443. So to block that requires blocking all HTTPS.

You need an advanced firewall to do this or good proxy.

We dont want to block them, we just want to find them if they exist.

    • How can I search and find agents that have a connection to the Internet?

My boss has asked me to make sure nobody that isnt in IT has any remote desktop programs that connect to the cloud and bypass us directly. Examples of this would be Logmein, Pertino, and others.

What would be the quickest way to search for these programs?

Hmmm. Will they port windows 8 to ARM then or are they giving up already?

Maybe the better question is Will Windows 8 devices just move away from ARM completely?

Its starting to look that way.

@scottalanmiller I don't think so. MS mentioned they had 3 versions of Windows 8. The versions they mentioned were Windows 8, RT, and mobile. They said one is going to go. See article below

I went through that in my 70-410 training.

    • MS Drops Surface RT

It looks like Microsoft finally dropped the Surface RT, quietly. It is the only Surface model that did not receive a firmware update. Microsoft mentioned they were going to drop one of the 3 Windows 8 Versions a few months ago. Everyone expected it was going to be Windows 8 RT, but this pretty much confirms it.

    • RE: Windows Server 2012 Start Menu

@bob-beatty I see what you are saying, but the Metro interface isnt going away. Keyboard Shortcuts are much quicker than using the start menu, anyways.

I dont think the GUI is coming back. Powershell is just too powerful and has many more options than the GUI will ever have.

When I first saw this I thought it was another post that a free product was going away. I am thankful that is not the case here.

The new Pricing model is a popular one. You dont OWN the software like those that are grandfathered in. We only pay $99 a year for support (optional) since we already bought the software for $250.
