I can see the use for this in a multi user system where you have virtualization admin. They would not need sudo access to do things.

For most though, just using sudo will suffice.

If sssd is installed will I be able to use -Authentication Kerberos without needing to join to a domain or when accessing Windows machines that isnโ€™t joined to a domain?

No it only works for domains.

And I noticed that they are different on Servers and Desktops

I had no idea they would be different.

On the server one of the permissions that stands out for me is the CREATOR OWNER (full control / subfolders and files only.
From what I can tell, when a user creates a folder on the root drive, that person will be given the permission of full control of that folder only and then CREATOR OWNER on that folder is also added with full control of subfolders and files only.

But for the desktop, on the root drive you are not given any full control of that folder.

You set them before running the script and can use them in scripts but if you restart the shell they are gone.

Besides probably losing whatever was running in your current shell session, is there any benefits of adding exec $SHELL at the end of a script file?

Idk I didn't mind the windows 8 interface because it felt like GNOME 3 to me.

I have to wonder if Microsoft would have got the same push back if the internet was as prevelant back when they first introduced the start menu.

I would guess there are better alternatives out there that can be run on Linux servers

All enterprise Forex software runs on Linux (and generally UNIX, and nothing else.) On the Forex floors they sometimes use Windows desktops, but all the analytics comes from UNIX systems (including Linux.) Windows is only used as a GUI for the trades to be places, and generally isn't used even for that.

Which one are you using, MySQL 0.3.0 from Jun Han or MySQL 0.3.1 from Yury Bukin?

The 0.3.0. I noticed the other one today when I addded it to my laptop. He only added a single feature that I don't need. So I went with the one used more.

@scottalanmiller said in Which skills is more valuable to you? Hard skills or Soft skills?:

But in the enterprise, so few people need to talk to anyone but other tech people, the interfaces to the outside world are few and far between.

I agree here, but there is a minimum viable product of soft skills where even other tech people don't want to put up with your shit, or your ability to communicate with other tech people is crap and so you don't get good feedback or collaboration. The 10x engineer who belongs in a closet is something that fewer and fewer companies will put up with. Hell Linus recently admitted he needs to stop being an asshole. Netflix has an official policy to not keep them.

Lacking soft skills doesn't make you an asshole, though. That's not the alternative. Soft skills is a lot of things. Being nice isn't one of them. Being nice is just being a good person. Seeming to be nice when you are actually an asshole, now that is a soft skill.

I worked with a guy like that. Came across great, but openly admitted he was a horrible person that would screw you if he could. Great soft skills, mediocre hard skills, not a nice person.

It's just thin provisioning, with all the benefits and pitfalls of any other type of thin provisioning. Why it would be required, I don't know.
