I wouldn't call $50 for a 5 port enterprise grade switch pricey.

What? Where have you seen the Unifi PoE 8 port switch for $50? I'll buy one right now. On UBNT and Amazon they are $200.

Well finally had my first personal hard drive failure. I've had the drive since about 2009 and it's finally starting to give up.

I don't think that will help. Server shuts off at a random point in less than a day. SMART says it's going to fail in 24 hours. I already have a larger 4TB drive to replace it. Just amazed it's lasted me 7 years.
