Suse is great. It's the big German distro that is the dominant Linux in Europe. It's very much on par with Red Hat as being fully supported and enterprise ready.
My understanding was that just as many of the vulnerabilities came from the fact that Microsoft released their source to China in order to get into their market in the first place. I forget where I heard that but I could be wrong.
I don't remember what doesn't support it, but that's true, from what I was told and what I have experienced. I can't speak for the KB article. Which article ID?
I don't see much hope other than starting over in a case like this. It's more or less the same as doing the infamous rm -rf / except far better because at least you can take a final backup and recover, file by file, anything specific that you need.
