Modern laptop batteries are anything but dumb devices. Most of them got an SMBus interface, a bus derived from (and very similar to) I²C.

My guess is that either the firmware on this specific battery is bad, your host driver doesn't like the battery or you just had some dirty contacts and the host just couldn't talk to the battery.

      That's the one.

And the template didn't load properly when we selected it! It kept going back to Alpine!

So no idea what the exact fail combo is, but I am fully updated, and working, on a clean install.

Installed Fedora 31 Cinnamon from USB. Rebooted, I have only kernel 5.3.7-301 Removed dnf dragora GUI sudo dnf remove dnfdragora* -y Rebooted. Upgraded all but grub2 sudo dnf upgrade --refresh -y --exclude grub2* Rebooted, not I now have kernel 5.3.13-300 available and default. Upgraded grub2 sudo dnf upgrade --refresh -y, I did receive the above SELinux errors again, they may be normal? Rebooted, system working normally.

I haven't been keeping up with Windows Admin Center for awhile. Was that an option to manage Hyper-V?

It will be, but I'm not sure that it is yet. We've tried and not been able to get it working even internally anywhere, let alone externally. Once they figure out stability and authentication, I assume that it will be great for that. Being that this is 2016, it's going to suck hard. And if there is a Hyper-V issue, WAC would be down which is a problem in a small environment like this.

However, they don't have any standard Linux install documentation on their website and only show using Homebrew, a MacOS package that essentially no one on Linux uses. Very odd.

I just looked. I'm not sure what you're talking about. The page clearly shows snaps, dnf, apt, pacman, eopgk, and pkg_add for OpenBSD.

      https://gohugo.io/getting-started/installing

Completely different than what I got from the same link this morning. I went to that page, clicked on Linux, and they only showed Brewlinux, which isn't even the current name of the system.

Way back machine shows it's been there since at least the 13th.

      https://web.archive.org/web/20191113183617/https://gohugo.io/getting-started/installing/

Very weird. I wonder if it was a cache somewhere? I definitely poked around this morning and Linuxbrew was the only thing that it had and had it from every link that I tried on their site.

@wrx7m said in Fedora - Automating Config File Modifications:

Without using a CM tool, what is the easiest way to automate modifications to several config files across 7-8 servers? I was looking at sed, but am not sure if there is a better tool that isn't a CM.

More specifically, I have several Fedora servers running squid proxy. From time to time, I need to modify the config file to whitelist a particular domain. Because I will soon have a few more servers, I would like to automate these type of file updates so I don't have to manually go into each server's config and copy and paste stuff in to certain sections; some information is specific to a particular server, where as this section would be universally necessary on all servers. So, I would be inserting lines in specific sections.

I intend to move to some sort of CM for this stuff in the future, but I need to get these going sooner than I could learn the CM tool.

Sync with a s3 bucket hourly. Then you only need to update on s3

Production quality can be hired if it is found to be worth that cost.

Dont' use bullet/number lists in instructions and guides like this. it makes it annoying for those that want to copy and paste.

This guide is assuming that you are running as root. If not prepend everything here with sudo.

Install the salt-master package dnf install salt-master Open the required ports in the firewall firewall-cmd --add-port=4505-4506/tcp --permanent firewall-cmd --reload Enable the salt-master service to start on boow, and also start it now. systemctl enable --now salt-master.service
