Poking around the Internet to see if there are USB-based audio interfaces that might play nice with a Linux distro.

Customized GNOME vs vanilla GNOME Opinion Poll
https://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?pollnumber=151&myaction=NewVote&issue=20180507&newvote=2#pollI've chosen I am fine with either.

No. Audio interfaces that have XLR and other inputs. I current use two of Presonus’s FireStudio products with an old MacBook Pro (connects via FireWire).

Poking around the Internet to see if there are USB-based audio interfaces that might play nice with a Linux distro.
Like a USB audio card?
No. Audio interfaces that have XLR and other inputs. I current use two of Presonus’s FireStudio products with an old MacBook Pro (connects via FireWire).
All interfaces will play nice with a Mac, not sure about Linux support. Either way, ASIO4ALL is your friend.

Yeah. Before I invest in another laptop (and updated audio interface), I'm going to see if I can make use of my Linux laptop (which is nice and powerful) with a non-firewire audio interface.

@eddiejennings My FocusRite works fine. Probably better out there though

I hope you mean support... Focusrite preamps are sweet, some of the best in the semi-reasonably priced audio world. Better quality can be had, but you'll be paying upwards of $1000 / channel.

Cleaning up stale AD computers and users.

That's why I like my Presonus stuff. I've had good results with it.
