      The mailboxes and their email will migrate automatically (after some minutes of panic where you can't see any mailbox during the migration)

      I have switched some mailboxes from BP to E1 and vice versa and haven't really noticed anything. It is not with active users, so I can't say for sure. Test it out, but still do it after hours.

      Some users don't work on their local machine, they instead RPD to a way more powerful Hyper-V VM (one VM for each user), will this still work with Business Premium licenses?

      I am pretty sure that since it is a single VM per user, you wouldn't run into a shared computer activation requirement.
      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/overview-of-shared-computer-activation-for-office-365-proplus

      If you are using RDS on a single server VM that everyone was connecting to, then you would have to go that route.

    • WordPress - Plugins to Manage and Extend User Roles/Permissions

      I am setting up a small WP site for our marketing team to manage. I want to give them certain permissions to edit theme and plugin info, which are part of the WP admin role, but not allow them to do most of the admin things, like create/modify users, install plugins or updates, etc. I see that there a few plugins that offer customized and extended/more granular roles to be created.

      Is anyone using something like this?
      https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/

      If so, what are you using and do you like it?

      Once you reach those avanced requests, Wordpress is not what you want , you need to check Drupal.

      Yeah. According to the initial request, it really is funny how simple the site is supposed to be and how they are just pushing and pushing-

      It also just occurred to me that it may only be a "convenience" thing to view it in the RD session. They might not even need that and instead, access the report from a shared folder, directly from their laptop, which would have a license.

      Scenario 1

      You need to install O365 on that machine using the shared option. Forget the name atm, not at a PC.

      What happens is when they log on to the computer, office asks them to log in.

      They'll need to have their own login for that computer.

      Technically, doing it this way is the only allowed way to do it. You must specifically install the shared version of office.

      Edit: found the link
      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/overview-of-shared-computer-activation-for-office-365-proplus

      I have read that, and the shared activation is for proplus. We have business premium. So, we would have to assign users with proplus licensing. However, a chat with MS last night yielded no solution. Sure, you can use proplus to do this, but what about if you have those same users that have office 365 mailboxes/exchange online with business premium? They couldn't answer that.

      I read that MS has expanded the selections that can do shared activation somewhere. I want to say that happened in April? Here we go MS blog about the change.

      That is Microsoft 365 Business, not Office 365

      You can use powershell to flush the DNS of remote systems.

      Invoke-Command -script {Clear-DnsClientCache} -ComputerName Server01

      If you have access to the DNS servers, you can try clearing the cache of each server.

    • Digital Signage - Display HTML5 Page That Requires a Login

      I am setting up a BrightSign media player (XT244) to access various HTML5 dashboards. I have it working fine when accessing a FileMaker webdirect page that does not require a login. However, there isn't any inherent method for accessing a page that requires a login.

      Currently, I want to access a smartsheet.com dashboard that requires a login, but am not sure how to configure this.

      Does anyone know if there is a way to add credentials to a URL for smartsheet or other sites?

      I can't speak to the Migration process, but I have an RDS & VDI farm with Server 2012 R2 & User Profile Disks... It works great!

      Edit: This was built completely around the use of UPDs.

      Thanks for the input, @dafyre. I could try that route. I am just not sure how the apps will handle it. I guess I can try setting it up to test and burn it down if it has obvious issues.

      @wirestyle22 said in Fedora 30 - EDAC skx: Can't Get tolm/tohm Error After Upgrade From 29 (Vultr):

      @wrx7m I would try to create a new instance with their image of 29 and upgrade to 30 to see if it works. If that doesn't work then I'd try to re-create what you are running on a custom iso and see if you can upgrade that successfully.

      Just deployed a new Fedora 29 instance on Vultr. Updated it and rebooted. Got the same error in the logs. I went back in some other instances and found that the error started appearing between the end of May and beginning of June. So, this has nothing to do with my customization of the OS. All I did was- Deploy, Login, Update, Reboot.

      Now, I am going to deploy and reboot without updating.

      Vultr replied -

      "Hello,

      The software one your VPS is outside of our scope of support.

      Thank you."

      I replied -
      "I understand. Just thought your guys might want to figure out why your instances can't handle fully-patched versions of Fedora."

    • Sales Person Wants Me to Provide Independent Rep With an Email Account

      We have Office 365 and a sales person wants to have some independent rep in Chile have their own mailbox from our company. Aside from the hassle of dealing with some random person in a foreign country, how easy is it to limit functionality/isolate them from the broader environment, if I just give them an E1 license?

      Thoughts?

      The only thing I can think of doing, as a compromise, would be to create an external mail contact that auto-forwards all mail from our company address to this person's existing external address. The obvious issue is sending mail out wouldn't be from our domain.

    • RE: Configure Nginx as Reverse Proxy for ScreenConnect to Enable Lets Encrypt

      @scottalanmiller said in Configure Nginx as Reverse Proxy for ScreenConnect to Enable Lets Encrypt:

      Here is a basic, working Nginx conf to use with ScreenConnect.

      server {
        listen 443 ssl default_server;
        server_name my.site.com;
        server_tokens off;
        ssl          on;
          ssl_certificate /etc/letsencrypt/live/my.site.com/fullchain.pem; # managed by Certbot
          ssl_certificate_key /etc/letsencrypt/live/my.site.com/privkey.pem; # managed by Certbot

          location / {
            proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
            proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
            proxy_set_header Host $http_host;
            proxy_set_header X-NginX-Proxy true;
            proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8040;
            proxy_redirect off;
        }
      }

      This configuration assumes that ScreenConnect is running on the same server as Nginx. If it is not, change 127.0.0.1 to point to the IP address of the SC server, instead.

      Less to that than I thought there would be.
