Another good thing with Veeam is that you have an option to restore your backups to AWS EC2 or Azure. I haven't done this yet, but I am pretty sure that it does not require the cloud connect option for that.

@Pete-S If the N are like the powerconnect line, you might even be able to do this in the web UI. If you are more into that. Obviously, it is much faster to change lots of ports at once in the CLI.

You could even maintain your own backup DC using the replication feature of Veeam.

I have have N3000 stack too. If I connect 1 * 10 GbE from the N4000 stack to 1 * 10 GbE on the N3000 stack, and set the interfaces to allow vLAN1 and vLAN20, on both stacks, will anything on each vLAN route though the 10 GbE to the other stacks respective vLAN? I guess like a dumb layer 2 switch being connected to another dumb switch, they just pass traffic irrespective of vLAN?

      It should.

@WrCombs that being said, we do order Actual Dell enterprise SSDs when we put flash in production machines.

You mean except that Dell manufacturers zero SSDs so it's actually a Samsung, Intel or something else?

Right. The drives Dell uses have Dell specific firmware.

There is PRTG but last I check only give you 10 (free) sensors. So can only monitor one or two host at best. Last I used it many moons ago it was a very complex product to setup & use.

Also try https://mikrotik.com/thedude. Never used it but have heard of it.

PRTG 100 is now free. That means 100 free sensors.

So two further days of usage and the vpn has been working properly again. At the end the day, I had reverted back to original settings so everything just apparently started to work back on its own??

Really not sure what was causing the issue.

That is irritating that you don't know for sure what the fix was. Hopefully, it remains solid.

@wrx7m said in Leveraging Veeam Cloud Tier - Backups To Wasabi:

I upload Veeam backups to Wasabi (and before that, S3) outside of Veeam. I pull down the backups and import them back into Veeam, via the import feature.

I would like to see how well it works when everything is natively done in Veeam. If that is even possible.

How do you upload your backups to Wasabi? Are you using a 3rd party tool?

Yeah. I use a file compare tool called, BeyondCompare that runs on a windows task schedule.

    • Video Conferencing Hardware - Suggestions?

We are upgrading our conference rooms and I was wondering what hardware I should look at for video conferencing. We currently use SFB/Teams, but are almost certainly moving to Slack. We also have meetings with people on a variety of other platforms i.e. GoToMeeting, Webex, Zoom, etc.

Any suggestions for the hardware to utilize these services?

@dbeato said in Office 365 User Quarantine - How Do You Access After Redesign?:

@wrx7m I have not found a way to do so, you can create a folder in Outlook to manage it from there. Example here
      http://www.expta.com/2015/02/how-to-add-access-to-office-365-eop.html

Have you done this? The link that includes admin seems like it would try to access the admin portion, not the specific user's quarantine. If this works as I need, I wonder if there is a policy to set this up, or if it would be a manual, one-by-one endeavor.

So to ask, did you just now start looking at the event viewer?

I checked it after @scotth said something about it.
and have been looking through it .

Okay, so that's fine, now it's time to schedule a site visit since you now have proof that reloading this box is the recommended approach.

Which means a site visit. Stop milking the customer for remote hours.

I understand that the fix would be reloading the device, I told my boss that my suggestion.

Hopefully that's the fix, and not some crazy network level issue.

im fed up.. I mean I am truly over it.

I hate Windows sharing, it's very hard to track down root causes.

      Especially, when it is peer-to-peer.

    • RE: Your Top 5 Azure or O365 tasks

@Obsolesce said in Your Top 5 Azure or O365 tasks:

I'm doing a project and it would really help to know:

What are the top 5 things you find yourself most frequently doing in Azure and/or O365, or other MS Cloud services? Could be anything from uploading a file to OneDrive, to creating an O365 user, to installing an app on an Intune managed device.

I use powershell with Office 365 in concert with on-prem AD and Okta for SSO and provisioning and syncing AD info.

Not directly connecting to Office 365 via powershell- For on-boarding, I script creation of the AD user and group membership with powershell. Okta pulls it into their service, and based on membership, it will provision the user with the appropriate Office 365 license.

For off-boarding, I script disabling local ad account and password change and removing the user from all groups. It then connects to Office 365 and resets that password, changes the mailbox to a shared mailbox. After which, Okta sets the Office 365 to user to block sign in to the account.

The password script doesn't quite work correctly. I wanted it to grab the password that I set for the local AD and use it in Office 365, but it just creates its own- as if you went into the web ui and reset it there, allowing it to generate the password for you. It isn't big deal, as it won't be used. I would just like it to work correctly lol
