I like hangouts, but i think its way too complicated for non-techy users. Hangouts really doesn't like texting phone contacts. It almost forces you to convert everyone to Google Contacts. Also if you have Google Voice, it will randomly text some people with your Google Voice number . It took me awhile to figure out that I was texting people from Google Voice instead of my carrier number. I found that in settings it tries to reply with the last number you used.

Overall its better than any texting app I have used, but its a real pain in the ass to configure and nothing is really explained.

Yeah, I guess I can see that. What's weird is how Airdroid and Hangouts works...Airdroid will only show you messages sent and received to/from your carrier's number. But in Hangouts, it aggregates your Google chat, carrier, and Google Voice messsages all into one stream. Kind of annoying tbh...that it doesn't show everything in Airdroid like it does in Hangouts...

Instead of saying, "I can't believe that guy just cut me off! What a jerk!" they go with, "That guy just cut me off. I'm going to slow down a bit so there's no accident here. And I'm going to listen to my favorite song to get inspired.*

WTF? I'm trying to picture Donald Trump listening to Celine Dion.

That article sounds like the fantasy image of powerful people as created by a self-help guru who describes himself as an "Inspiration Designer". A large proportion of powerful people are psychopaths, crooks and scumbags. In many cases all three.

Sorry. As you may be able to tell, I'm not a great believer in "The American Dream".

I didn't see that part of the article. Yeah, that I don't think I'll agree with.

And the exact problem I am having is that the Dynamics NAV SQL Server and the RDS server when both put on Pertino were routing all traffic over Pertino instead of locally. I took the SQL server out of the network (made its own network) and everything started working again.

What Pertino is waiting on me for is some packet captures that I have not had time to create.

Because I seen odd behavior of LAN devices without Pertino also having problems access SQL. Those devices have the NAV client locally installed.

I have no idea what you're talking about with a sequel and all that. There was only one movie, and it was horrible.

Netflix's first in house movie is the sequel to the classic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Before now they've only made their own TV shows, not movies.

Oh ok. You gave no context on your statement and it made no sense in this post. When you said "they licensed their first movie too", you made it sound like Netflix was the one who made the original Unfortunate Events movie. Just the wording was wonky.

But I said that the first one was the sequel to Crouching Tiger.

I was reading it a different way. Just how my brain works...

Also, @PSX_Defector , this is my test box. They let you pick whatever OS you want to run on here and run it, be it Windows or any flavor of Linux. They don't put any blocks on it. I just use Google for DNS because it's faster and more stable as a rule.

Yeah, I know. The management UI is about what you'd expect from a consumer-grade device. It's pretty and functional, but very basic as to what it can do.

My parents didn't like South Park due to content and how raunchy it was/is. If it wasn't for that, it probably would have been fine. And, okay, let me spell it out. If it was a war game, like Battlefield, CoD, etc, I was not allowed to play it. It was because you were emulating a soldier was the reason, but I won't get into it more than that. SSB was always acceptable.

That makes sense. I just wouldn't categorize them as FPS because there are TPS war games and other types too. And isometric, etc.

We had some other FPS on the N64. There was the obvious GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. But I swear that there was another one that was decent that was more cartoony, but I can't recall what it might have been. South Park was the most fun of them, though.

The biggest war games are, as a rule, FPS. I agree not all, but most. That's the classic perspective. What's funny, though, is that Star Wars: Battlefront was fine, because it's Star Wars. 🙂

I could be wrong, the market consensus does not agree with me. Nearly everyone says that it is a booming field and will be huge. But I've seen that behaviour before and that is what people said about teaching, nursing and nearly every other field that rapidly becomes over saturated and all of the people working in that field see incomes plummet and people entering the field end up without a way to get a job because experienced people already have them all.

The problem here is that security is one of those jobs that sounds cool to teachers, parents and kids. Tell a kid that being a "system admin" is cool and they won't have a clue why. Tell them that they will be on a "security team" and it sounds neat to the layman. Anything that normal people know about in IT.... can only be so high up in the field.

@dengelhardt that's a good point that people often miss - there are cases where using VLANs unnecessarily can cause traffic to have to "loop" through a router to return to the same device. In the case of VoIP phones acting as small switches at the desk it's the switch inside the phone doing it.

I had to deal with a network just a few weeks ago that had five routers and three switches, one of which was still on FastEthernet (10/100.)
They managed to make nearly all traffic have to pass through the slow switch for nearly everything. And some things looped through routers that were attached on both ends to the same VLAN!! It was insane.
