@tonyshowoff Nicely worded!
I loved the part about SEO. It's easy to forget why you want the search engines to find you. Customers always want to go on and on about how cool they are and forget the surfer is looking for Great content first.

@scottalanmiller I am still waiting to see if RepairShopr integrates Wave. They have already integrated both desktop and web QB and Xero.
@scottalanmiller I can understand that. But in the Mom & Pop, small businesses trenches, it feels like a technological time warp most times.I have actually asked customers why they even bother using PCs if they are only using them as a cash register and a typewriter.
@scottalanmiller And as always it's a fight between professionals. Never helps that the other "professionals" go with the status quo.. Aside from Wave there is Freshbooks, Xero, Harvest and many more to choose from. I know I looked at them all when my MS Accounting was at EOL.
For kicks, I think I will hit up all the accounting firms in town to see if in 2015 they have changed their tune.
I'm just glad to hear the phones aren't the problem.
Also it seems that small businesses and mom & pop businesses use QB because that's what the accountant or bookkeeper suggested. A couple of years ago I asked a couple of the local big accounting firms about software and they only worked with QB and Sage.

QB is very sensative to latency. really the program is meant to be run locally. It's just a workaround for people who don't want to spend the money (or switch to open source) for a type of [transnational] program that would be better served by a database system than a file system.
What is mind-boggling is that there are awesome, hosted, free options like Wave that kick the absolute crap out of QB. Yet these small businesses continue to make massive donations to Intuit, make their own lives hell and spend a fortune on IT people who can only make vane attempts to get QB to limp along. Why would any person with an interest in the finances or the success of a business even allow Intuit to be a consideration?
Yep...I have used Wave before and liked it. I find that even server hosted QB comes with too many issues. I remember 3 years ago I had to call QB support and they said.well that's because you were using W7 and you need to disable everything so our product will work. (generalization)
@thecreativeone91 I was about their issue on the way out of the office. I will be going back and will be able to answer the questions properly. From the office managers seat I could see the router beside the cable modem which is next to the PC. When I get back I will physically trace the wires for a better understanding.
@thecreativeone91
No data is on the network save for the QB file which is on one desktop and shared via WIndows shared file.
First device from customer owned cable modem is Netgear WNR200v3 and then there is another white consumer Netgear 5 port switch.
I will be going out there next week to eyeball the "network" and will report back my findings.

This doesn't sound like a WordPress thing. This is just a template thing.
And most of your spacing issues would be related to the WP theme's CSS file. Use firebug for Firefox and you should be able to see the issues in your theme according to the php page that is being used by the theme.
ALWAYS use a Child Theme to make edits to ANY Theme you didn't create from scratch.
@scottalanmiller Thank you very much. Never did get a call back from the Shredding company.
@scottalanmiller so you think shredding the hard drive is over kill?
Also it's not a server, it's the bosses PC with QB on it with a simple file share for the office assistant to use.
I was on the PCs the other day and I didn't notice any network issues, and since NOTHING is networked but a QB file from a PC, I am not sure there is anything wrong. I will wait for the office assistant to return to see what she says, since she is the main QB worker via the shared folder.
@thecreativeone91 still only 2 people using QB...and only occasionally daily.
There was no bottleneck until the client added more PCs and phones. The desktop running QB is 1 foot from switch, the other desktop that shares the data connection to QB is 8 foot from switch.
I found a company that will do 100% destruction (shredding) and provide a Certificate of Destruction. Waiting for a call back to find out the cost of this service.
So the consensus is to shred drives. She was hoping to sell the severs with the drives in them.
I saw that @Dashrender recently had a post about possibly upgrading to 1GbE.
One of my small business clients, HIVAC service company, has extended their office and added on to their consumer 100Mb network gear with another consumer switch and added one more PC to the lan and a few more wireless devices and 2 or 3 more IP phones.. The client claims that their network has slowed down since then.
The only thing on the network that is shared is the QuickBooks file which I have been trying to get moved to the cloud. This would be good also when she starts doing more from home.
Since the phones are 100Mb, I can see where it's possible that they are affecting the QuickBooks being shared on the network. Since adding Gigabit is not going to solve the problem, would it make sense to run two switches, one for data and one for phones?
I have a small medical billing office that needs to have drives wiped as the PC's and servers are no longer needed by the company. As usual, they would like to do whatever is the cheapest today. Any ideas or input would be appreciated.
1.) I have one failed drive which I presume would have to be degaussed or shredded since it is not functioning.
2.) I have a few drives in PC's that can be wiped but customer asked about certification of service. I haven't see that yet, have you?
3.) How do you wipe servers when they are setup in a RAID?
Thanks!
