@Mike-Davis said in pagefile size on Windows Server with dynamic RAM?:

@dafyre Only on servers with dynamic RAM? Those are the only servers I'm having that issue with, and setting the page file size manually didn't fix it they way I thought it would.

If you didn't also change the PF size, I'm not surprised that it didn't fix the Zabbix issue.

No, it have issues with all of my servers with that trigger. It's definitely a zabbix issue, as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't had time to research it.

@Mike-Davis said in who is calling WmiPrvSE.exe ?:

I was using Process Explorer. I just didn't see the check box for "User Name" under column headings. I turned that on, and it tells me "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" is the owner. I might just be wiping this laptop... I already uninstalled everything that I recently installed.

From what I read it seems like some kind of program that has a little status icon on the task bar might be the source. I'll see how I make out with a selective startup.

It's good practice to solve stuff like that but ultimately nuke/pave is faster and gets better results

I got it working. For some reason I needed to use the 32 bit agent on my 64 bit systems.

      You download the agent from:
      http://www.zabbix.com/download.php

extract the zabbix_agentd.exe to a folder like c:\zabbix
in the c:\zabbix folder create a file called:
      zabbix_agentd.win.conf
      The file needs to contain:
Server=xx.xx.14.212 #the IP address of your Zabbix server
ServerActive=xx.xx.14.212 #the IP address of your Zabbix server
Hostname=yourinternalservername #the name here has to match the name that you configure on the Zabbix server

once you save the file you run:
      c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.exe --config c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.win.conf --install
      net start "zabbix agent"

If you open services.msc you should see the Zabbix service and it should be running.

Could always start over and follow JB's guide. May be a bit easier.

Not a bad idea. Have a solid baseline and know what the set up is.

got it working. I did the burflags thing. On the server throwing the 13508, I backed up sysvol, stopped ntfrs and changed the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters\Backup/Restore\Process at Startup\BurFlags to D4 , started ntfrs, and then went to the other two domain controllers.
On them I stopped ntfrs and changed:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters\Backup/Restore\Process at Startup\BurFlags to D2
      and started ntfrs.

after a few minutes the logs were clean. I logged in to a workstation and group policy didn't throw any errors.

@Mike-Davis said in usage data for RDS?:

@dafyre Thanks for sharing! The script doesn't find a connection broker, but I can troubleshoot that. I hard coded it and it gave me 0 for everything, but I can see where you were going with it, and it's pretty cool. I'll play with it and post updates.

I have better luck with this running actually on the connection broker.

If you're not running it on the connection broker, then the machine has to be joined to the domain, and have the Remote Desktop powershell modules installed.

Let me know how it works for you. 🙂

I have a couple of other tools for similar type things on the site.

@dafyre said in Hyper-V dynamic memory - reason not to use?:

I've only heard that it's a bad idea to use on things like SQL Servers and such. I see no reason not to enable it for anything you expect to be constantly fine tuning the memory usage.

I have it enabled on my VDI VMs here. I'd probably enable it on file servers, and IIS servers. Probably not on DCs though.

      Just my 2c worth.

SQL will eat up as much as you give it so it's a bad idea.
