May be we should look for some products like riverbed which might help us solve this. Still checking on possible solutions

RE: MPLS speed issue
So after the initial investigation, we just knew that the main office here is connected on MPLS, and the branch office in India also on MPLS, but the main datacenter connecting these two locations are on IPSEC!
So not to expect the latency improvement as thought.
One question on the SMB transfer. what will be the optimal latency for SMB file transfer access over these network?

RE: MPLS speed issue
Thanks for the feedback I posted a ticket to the network team on the latency issue. And the Ping was done when no one was in the office during the night.

MPLS speed issue
Hi guys
Need some help on networking
We have main office here in Dubai and 2 branch office in India connected via MPLS provided by our parent company (they have offices in both places). We have huge performance issue on file sharing between offices after the MPLS migration, Previously we used to have 8Mb internet on branch offices and 60Mb in head office. FTP was an "OK" solution that time, as we didn't had budget for more than that!
Later on, when MPLS was implemented (8mb internet+2mb mpls) , as per their policy, FTP is not allowed, and we were in an impression that since we will be on MPLS, we can just share the network drive and get files via SMB/CIFS, turned out to be even slower and killing our productivity. I am checking on different solutions to use our existing network drive (netapp) with some sort of cloud sync solutions, but apart from that I did some ping test to branch office and the latency is around 309.067 ms
Is this normal on an 2MB MPLS connection? One of my friends office who has a similar MPLS setup, gets a ping response 120ms. May be if we get this fixed, the file sharing issue might be fixed.
The current solution they are suggesting is to increase the MPLS speed, but I dont think that will help if the latency is this much.
Please share your thoughts.

RE: SSH With Two-Factor Authentication- What do you think?
Nice, this would be really helpful for others like us who haven't thought about such a solution, jump box with 2 step authentication- Nice!

RE: SSH With Two-Factor Authentication- What do you think?
@scottalanmiller I was wondering what a "jump server" is, and upon checking found this. http://www.infoworld.com/d/security/jump-boxes-improve-security-if-you-set-them-right-228742
Hope this is what you are talking about, and if so, thats a great idea too, haven' heard about this one before!
Thanks!

Thinking about implementing this, opinions?

Outlook 2013 weird issue
One of my users have a weird outlook issue. I don't even know how to explain this/search in google.
All the folders were garbled and today the header part of outlook was not really visible, in between the headers, it was showing a black background. Anyone faced such issue? user is on a windows 8 with Outlook 2013

Ok, time for test results!

RE: Linux issue
I have few other vms and running with the same centos but with other installations. Anyways, I will try a new setup tomorrow again and see if I get same issues. Its 3 AM here, i really need to sleep or i will be late to the office in the morning.
Thanks a lot for helping
, I will post it here my test results tomorrow.

RE: Linux issue
@scottalanmiller Its a test vm, i can destroy and rebuild it, but just curious to find the cause.
As I mentioned all i did was installing the gitlab on the server. Would you be able to test this on ur test server and see if that installation opens something else?
