@black3dynamite I actually have a windows licence on this machine, but moved over to linux because I'm more productive on it. I can leave it on without it forcing me to reboot or waiting forever for updates to install. I dsilike the start menu in windows 10 and half settings in control panel and other half in settings. even changing the network adapter is more clicks then it was in windows 7. the days of just right clicking and going to properties, and I dont see Ctrl + Run netcpl.cpl as productive. Linux just does updates better. both the first and 2nd feature updates killed my machine. and now bringing back widgets...fuck that's not innovation.

At Least they have got rid of tiles though, another pointless addition that was that was thrown in from the mistake of windows 8.

They are saying updates are going to be 40% lighter, We will see about that and they are going to allow win32 exe apps inside the store with android. It was and still is. You see because Windows 10 isn't a VERSION, it's a NAME. Windows 11 is either Windows 10 renamed or it is a version OF Windows 10. In either case, Windows 10 is the last "version" of Windows because it is the name of Windows, not a version of it.

Same, all my machines come with Windows and I just put Linux over the top of it.

As Dustin was saying above I cannot believe you need to have a Microsoft account now for signing on. with even more tracking embedded wouldn't surprise me.How much has our work flow changed from using pc/laptop since the xp/win7 era? The only reason they wanted to change the OS so badly was to support the mobile and tablet market. But most people didn't want that and their mobile effort failed. They shouldn't of touched the desktop as much. They finally got somewhere with Windows 7, such a shame.There is nothing inovating about what the new Windows will be like that linux distros haven't already done.

Windows 11 Home will require a Microsoft account. Confirming what I saw last week when I installed both Windows 11 Home and Windows 11 Pro in clean install and upgrade configurations, Windows 11 will controversially require both an Internet connection and a Microsoft account (MSA) during the initial Setup. This is a curiously tone-deaf decision, given that Home is the mainstream Windows 11 version and Microsoft’s history with this kind of thing. (Anyone else remember the “submarine” episode ahead of the Xbox One launch?)

It feels unlikely that microsoft will make their computers "online only." Tin foil hat wearing anti-Internet types are a major customer group of Windows.

Yeah on each variant of the OS, home pro etc

I saw that only 8 gen or newer Intel CPUs are supported. So for instance 6th generation (Skylake) is not supported.
Microsoft of course knows they will sell more OS as more people will need to get new computers.

Also, with the current Home versions, if you wait until after the username setup to attached to WiFi or plug into ethernet, it lets you create a local account.
