Yes, but Upstate refers to the upper part of the state above the NYC commuting zone (and the island.) No matter how far south in upstate you are, you are still in upstate. And we are right in the middle of it, not even close to an edge. If someone is "less upstate" it would be you as you are nearer the Canadian edge.

I know, I had a friend that when we would go to Haiti and didn’t have power we would use a generator for him to keep it up. Fun times.
