@brandon220 Yeah that sucks. Ive been meaning to start learning Nextcloud, I want to use it at home so I learn it better using and supporting it.

Was late this morning, after I dropped my son off to school, Somebody dropped a whole box of roofing Nails in the middle of the street and we all pitched in to clean it up. (not me, cause I couldn't tell what was going on, but a good dozen people helped) causing me to be even more late than our "grace period" of 5 minutes.
But we dont do clock in clock outs so it doesn't really matter. -

Having one of those fun days after a client was bought and the company that bought them decided that they would move all of their IT to their internal IT departments. Yes, first, they have two departments for IT. And they have an internal person who "doesn't want to hear about it" who oversees IT, but refuses to be made aware of any outages, issues, or complaints. She directly said that she was not to be informed.
One of their sites has been without working email for weeks. Their websites are broken and don't load. Their users are threatening to quit because they "have no IT support anymore". LOL
Just, enjoying it all.

Popcorn has an extra good flavor during this drama.
My issue with that scenario is the IT department is probably catching the shit from users while the "decision" maker is overlooked. On top of that, I'm guessing, there are a few IT people who know/want to fix the issues but have not power to fix them.

Resilvering an R1, which kicked out a drive in the pair for a transient error.
Good morning, at least the other drive seems consistent and I have backups.

Not likely, appears to be a one man show. They claim to be bigger, but they operate from a cell phone and if the owner is at lunch, the company evaporates. Every so often we see one other name in emails, but all responses and phone calls only go to the owner. We suspect this is a one man, part time deal. He's a nice guy, but goes weeks at a time without even acknowledging that they have tickets or that things are down.
They split IT into two, one that does the LAN based stuff, and one that does public facing. From what we can tell, the head of IT for public facing doesn't even know what DNS records are so as you can guess, the disasters that ensure are pretty significant. Their LAN guy and us both take a bit of humour from the situation.

Monday starts new employee onboarding, so busily going over documents today.

So the Pakistani restaurant that we really liked just a block down is gone. Another COVID death. Their phones are even gone, so definitely no coming back.
Helps make the sting of moving away not quite as bad, though.

San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
I moved back to Texas in 2017 later in the year. So been here a while. We are selling the house (and everything in it) and the moment that the borders open I'm driving the dogs to CDMX, picking up @valentina and her dog Tomasa, and driving through Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras to make the full move to Nicaragua. Already have an immigration lawyer working on our paperwork.

@scottalanmiller
Doesn't Valentina live in Mexico?
Is she also moving to Nicaragua? -

Yes, the only exec or management team member not currently moving to Nica is @Romo
Valentina is Chief of Staff and our new ops center and our new veterinarian businesses are Nicaragua based. So being there is a big deal. As is living on the beach, of course.
