helping my brother navigate the unemployment website. His major chain restaurant announced very abruptly yesterday they were fully closing (no takeout/delivery) and he's been "furloughed" until further notice. No vacation time, no severance, last paycheck is in the mail yada yada yada.
Here's another organization that's giving some relief:

That's not how that works.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronavirus_disease_2019#Terminology
The World Health Organization announced on 11 February 2020 that "COVID-19" would be the official name of the disease. World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said "co" stands for "corona", "vi" for "virus" and "d" for "disease", while "19" was for the year, as the outbreak was first identified on 31 December 2019. Tedros said the name had been chosen to avoid references to a specific geographical location (i.e. China), animal species, or group of people in line with international recommendations for naming aimed at preventing stigmatisation.

@thwr that's not really surprising, people are in a hoarding phase, they don't want to go out repeatedly so they buy in bulk once for everything they could need.

Sure, but it's stupid in 90% of all cases.

Absolutely, people who purchase 6 packs of toilet paper for example. Who the hell needs so much TP
-
Most supermarkets have ran out of Toliet roll, Meat, Bread and milk. Most shelves are empty due to people panic buying. These people are so selfish.
-
What's out here is mostly toilet paper, disinfectant sprays and liquids, puréed tomatoes in cans, noodles, flour and formula milk. I've seen people buying 30kg flour - and most of them looked like they didn't even know how to make a bread
