The Rise of Skywalker is getting hammered, especially for a Star Wars movie.
Doesn't being part of such an epic.. um... epic make it more likely to get hammered if it isn't exactly what fans wanted?
There is a narrative out there that criticizes those who dislike TLJ as those who wanted to get something specific. Most of the people that I talk to just wanted a good Star Wars story. It wasn't about not having fan service, or nods, or callbacks. It was because we wanted a coherent story set in our favorite universe. No one is upset because of the subversion that Rian Johnson did. Except for the fact that it appears that that was primary motivation for making the movie instead of telling a good space magic movie.

And the people dissing TROS are the professional reviewers, not the much maligned fans of Star Wars.

True, good point. If the reviewers are massively disappointed, the fans are likely to be pretty pissed.

The last two were 1 part lip service to fans and three parts “gimme yo money”.

Safe to say we are witnessing history being made right in front of us. -

I wouldn't even call it lip service. they were just blah... but the last jedi - man - Mr Johnson just needs to find a hole to crawl into and never return to the SW universe - EVER! sadly I already know that crazy lady Kennedy has apparently invited him back for more stupidness.

Safe to say we are witnessing history being made right in front of us.Meh... this was totally expected.. and it's expected to completely fail in the senate.
at least that's the last I've heard when I cared enough to listen. -

Safe to say we are witnessing history being made right in front of us.I watched it live. No matter what opinions anyone has, watching a double impeachment live, half of all impeachments votes in our nation's history, and the first for serious offenses ever, is super historic. All impeachments in the past were really fluffy and only one at a time.

at least that's the last I've heard when I cared enough to listen. It's around 99% certain or more that it will fail in the senate. The question posed to the senate is not "did the president do X wrong", but "does the senate feel that what the president might have done wrong is worth removing him from the role". So even if the senate believes all of the charges, even if it proves them, that's not what they are voting on.

and then if they fail it at the senate - He can run again for office in 2020, but with a legal Impeachment on his record; he'd be stupid to run for office again.

It was interesting. McCarthy's closing remarks were well read but terrible and garbage and very aggressive. Schiff was eloquent and didn't have to read a false, prepared statement and just talked about their duties. Interesting to see. Best moment was Pelosi losing her shit when Democrats tried to celebrate. That was a look of fury and I've never seen politicians go silent so fast.

He can run again regardless. The senate vote in no way would normally bar him from future office. The senate has the power to do that, but it is not a standard part of the vote that they are asked to take, that's an "over and above" action that they could take if they wanted to.

It's going to be really interesting what kind of precedent that vote will set. Like you said... this is the first really urgent and serious offense.
