One of the buildings we cover has a satellite dish that connects them to another building we have. Every time it rains it loses connection. Haven't ever supported a site that has a setup like this where environmental problems were this much of an issue. Should an interesting learning experience.
What is your distance between buildings? could you upgrade to something different and eliminate the drop outs?
Unsure yet. I only heard it mentioned. Have not actually been to the site yet.
If you know the locations, you might be able to use Google Maps to see your distance with the measuring tool. Could show some LOS issues as well maybe.
If weather is what causes the issue, I would hope there are no LOS issues.
But as mentioned, it might be time to upgrade the wireless equipment. UBNT makes some pretty inexpensive stuff for this, They also make some more expensive stuff for this if needed. They have an awesome lineup.
Yeah I was reading about some of it. Definitely cool

Yup - @Mike-Davis put in a setup a few months back at a site in Auburn(?).
-
I now have hands in Spain, pulling a CMOS battery and retesting the power on this system.
Untested Hands
-
@Mike-Davis what was your experience with that? Did everything go smoothly?
-
Just turned my old iPhone 4 into a cordless phone for work.... It has the Otterbox Extended battery,.. been running Zoiper for 24 hours or so and the main battery is at 90% and the external about 50%...
Guess I'll add it to the dial group and see.
-
Maybe the power supply is dead..... I know this system worked before it was shipped as I set it up and tested it here!
Maybe I should have my untested hands in Spain try and do a paper-clip test on the power supply... it's only 12v. . .

Does the power supply doesn't have one of those 110/220V switches on it?

It does, and it's set for 230v, which is appropriate. When the system is connected to power and the button pressed, nothing happens.
So either the supply is dead or the motherboard is.
And since I don't want to risk having a novice perform a paperclip test of the power supply I'm at a stand still.

Is it under warranty?

@Dashrender I have the possibility of needed a windows box here and there. so might as well take that stupid thing but it all reality it will be a softphone
Seems like a great time to have a VM sitting somewhere you can remote into for that needed work, granting you less traveling weight.
-
@Dashrender I probably should. Travel weight really isn't that big of a deal we are driving down to TX so have plenty of room.

That's what I would do. A good desktop or laptop that is on and ready, or a VM in some cases but that triggers VDI, for admin purposes. Loaded with the right tools. Then all you need is remote access to that one system and a tablet becomes all powerful and flexible.
