What Are You Doing Right Now

It's going to be a long day. Client who hired us for consult and didn't follow advice and thought they could do something overnight with the wrong equipment is now in a huge bind.
Why oh why is someone else's lack of planning my emergency to deal with? Oh yeah we are a Service provider

But... Don't forget to charge them the emergency rates!

Price just went up to fix them though because you are now in emergency mode.
*edit - doh, I'm late to that game.
-
I'm evil when people don't listen to me. I'd hit them with a minimum 8 hour emergency rate, and make all other billable hours billable in minimum increments of two hours at the emergency rate.

Found this quote on FreeNAS' main page: "ZFS is designed for data integrity from top to bottom. RAID-Z, the software RAID that is part of ZFS, offers single parity protection like RAID 5, but without the βwrite holeβ vulnerability thanks to the copy-on-write architecture of ZFS." Um, this is exactly why I dislike FreeNAS stuff. This is old, common knowledge and they got it wrong. This is pretty basic. It's variable striping that does that. Copy on Write is a totally different mechanism. Argh.

OSSIM rocks! If you can get some network traffic to it via a SPAN port, you'll be able to see all kinds of neat things.
