Automatic partition table creation / manipulation of raw disk images using sfdisk and parted. Sounds easy enough, but there are dozens of possible pitfalls:
- source image file not found / no access
- target image file issues
- underlying disk full
- boundaries
- optimal sector alignment
- ...
You have my sympathy! I went through a bit of that (way less technical) when dealing with FOG
Yeah, got a little headache but it's working now

I was dead sure that I still have a Chieftec DA-01 somewhere, but I can't find it.
So I'm looking for a new case now. Saw a post from @moka here at ML mentioning Fractal Design, they look pretty great. I don't need anything that looks like a Predator or Transformer. But I also really hate cases where you may loose two or three fingers just from looking at them.
Any thoughts about the Fractal Design Define S?

There won't be much inside: PSU, GPU (Radion Rx 480, ~25cm long), be quiet Pure Rock CPU cooler (Height: 155mm). Storage will be a M2 SSD, maybe 2 or 3 additional spindles, ATX mainboard.

http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/define-series/define-sI've built two builds with Fractal Design cases. They always come out clean. Lots of options for cable management too.

Here's a review video (in German). I'm afraid that case would be mostly empty, would look a bit odd

I like their ITX case. I used that for a friend in the past.

hehe, yes, but I've already ordered the board, standard ATX.

@coliver I've built a couple systems with NZXT cases now, and really really like them. They're large, but the internal space is amazing to have compared to the cases I've used in the past.

What about the quality? Thin metal? Sharp corners?

Rolled edges or edges deburred all the way around, no splinters or cut fingers. Metal is a little thin for the size of the cases I've worked with, but they also almost always have thick plexiglass windows on one side of the case, and the opposite side of the case is sturdy. The interiors have always been painted (their mid-range generally), and even with the side panels off are solidly built. No bending from exerting a little to much force. I really like the additional internal fan mount to provide better airflow across the graphics card(s) and top of the power supply as well.

Right now,... Picking my jaw up off the floor.... I am ....wow.
Running WSPR again this evening and the 20m band conditions are unreal.

That is 13,448km on just 5watts. And better still is that I smashed the coax Sunday by accident.

Thanks, but I've got really enough "Windows" running on the machine, don't need any in my case Would prefer sound dampening foam instead.

lol. I see what you did there
I guess it gets a bit cold there to use liquid cooling.
The foam would just cook it Silent fans? -

My current PC uses a self-build watercooled system (with a quality ceramic pump from my former aquarium and a Tupperware bottle as a coolant expansion reservoir). I guess I got a little experience here. But I don't see any benefit for the new system in going watercooled.
So yes, would use ultra silent Papst fans (industrial quality).

Just got back to the hotel. Closed down Touche with @rob.

I'll have to try them again. Last time I built with them the quality was very poor. Metal was too thin and many of the threaded holes were in the wrong spot by a cm or more. Makes it hard to line up components. For cheap cases I've been doing a lot of Rosewill. Cheap but the quality is good enough for what they are.
