Have Fun! I have one of those in a week or 2.

in the middle of moving a load of desks round - the typical, "oh, we have 6 new starters and need their desks ready for tomorrow" type situation - and obviously only data cables for 4 pc's...did someone say future proofing? So I'm about to start my hunt for a small switch I can utilise for now...

Man, I can't tell you the number of times that has happened to me in the past. I'm glad I don't handle users in that fashion anymore.
-
ROFL. Your users start tomorrow? At my last job, they started two weeks ago.
-
@dafyre Oh don't feel bad we had an employee leave a month ago, and IT is just now getting notified to close out the account.
-
Thank god I have off tomorrow.
-
I saw this job posting for Systems Administrator in an email. No where in the posting does it say what you would be administering. I guess all of the systems?
I guess it does say mainframe/midframe systems, but that's kind of vague.
-
Wow I just watched a guy write a small COBOL program on z/OS. That was the most confusing thing I have ever seen.

Well, technically they started Monday, but they've been on induction this week...

About time you came back.
BTW,.. you're out of Whiskey again.. Didn't want to leave half a bottle for you. just didn't seem right.

She makes decent money and "works" ~10h a week from home. Honestly if anyone would pay me for that I'd do it.
Oh Gods,... Please no. if I could afford to...I'd pay you to NOT plug in the camera.

Troubleshooting with user reporting black screen. Ask them if the cable is plugged in. They tell me the bios text isn't loading either.
User: Of course it's plugged in. I'm not an idiot!
Me: Okay Okay. no problem.
<situation doesn't make sense. might as well drive>
Arrive at site
Check DVI cable.
It's loose.
Everything working.
go to Dunkin Doughnuts for Coffee.
Cry into paper bag
Drive back to main building.Today

@wirestyle22 I hope there is a trophy shop nearby so you can get that user an "I'm an idiot!" trophy or plaque, as he/she proved their idiocy in one fell swoop.

Yep - users refuse to help! Of course they feel stupid when you show them the problem.

That's just it--they don't. I can't even explain this company. It's like that place Tim Curry must have been in before he stepped out of that mirror in Legend.

Good morning ML! Hoping to stay warm here today. Feels like -7 here this morning.... brrrrrrrrr. In other news @art_of_shred got our Pellet stove fixed yesterday so we have actual heat in our house, just in time!
Oh - so @art_of_shred is useful for something more than complaining about my 'response time' and taking the initiative on something... or .[redacted].
@art_of_shred - Oh ye grand wise one of the Uni(brow)

A-yup... happens all the time. But they swear it's plugged in.. or it has paper,.. and it's the correct printer.
It's never their fault..
