However, they don't have any standard Linux install documentation on their website and only show using Homebrew, a MacOS package that essentially no one on Linux uses. Very odd.

I just looked. I'm not sure what you're talking about. The page clearly shows snaps, dnf, apt, pacman, eopgk, and pkg_add for OpenBSD.

      https://gohugo.io/getting-started/installing

Completely different than what I got from the same link this morning. I went to that page, clicked on Linux, and they only showed Brewlinux, which isn't even the current name of the system.

Way back machine shows it's been there since at least the 13th.

      https://web.archive.org/web/20191113183617/https://gohugo.io/getting-started/installing/

Very weird. I wonder if it was a cache somewhere? I definitely poked around this morning and Linuxbrew was the only thing that it had and had it from every link that I tried on their site.

Issue returned for the last two weeks even on Fedora 31. Luckily the old F30 kernel was still there because of the lock and continued to work. But the 5.4 kernel came out today and it works again.

      I've had no issues again

@Emad-R It's all great having numbers and visual aid to show results but will you really notice the difference when using Ubuntu compare Debian, assuming you are using the same desktop environment?

That's the tough comparison. Ubuntu has more features and a different desktop. I specifically like Ubuntu's desktop. So going to Debian I'd likely modify it to the point of being Ubuntu, lol.

If I use zsh, I'm good. If I enter BASH from zsh, I get kicked out after several seconds. Definitely is something to do with BASH.

Stupid tryout: use bash and then enter zsh before being kicked out. Still out?
To understand if it is the firing of bash itself or the stay in bash...

No, the underlying bash remains until the ZSH closes. Same as if you were running top from it, for example.

So basically bash is able to run long running jobs with your user...
It's the interactivity with the shell to be broken... Meh.

Sorry the thread is long, did you mention any test from zsh with:

Bash <-- ok this kills the session
      Bash -i any difference???
      Bash -l ???
      bash --norc
      bash --noprofile

      From bashman page

I know you were just explaining how to do it but this is a simple task with Ansible.

      - name: Ensure user exists user: name: Joe state: present password: "password_hash" groups: wheel, libvirt

Instead of needing the hash up front you can do things like:

      {{ Password1234 | password_hash('sha512') }}

We got it. Had to open the Nginx logs and noticed too many "posts" in the error log. Dug in and it was three ranges overseas all hitting with a "post timeout attack." It was a light DDoS where sessions were being opened and held causing nginx to wait on a timeout. This caused Apache to just increment forever. Once we blocked those ranges, the Apache thread count started to drop for the first time, and memory started to release. And the continuous flood of nginx error logs ceased.

If you are looking at nginx error logs, this is what you look for: upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream, client:

You can use this command to collect the offending IP addresses:

      grep "upstream timed out" error.log | cut -d' ' -f20

Then use your firewall to shut them down. We are all good now! Woot.

And it should be noted, that unlike SMB or NFS shares that would be generally frowned upon to use over the Internet, SFTP is heavily encrypted and very secure and is often used over public networks.
