Unsolved What is the best workflow to setup VitalPBX
-
Ok, @scottalanmiller or @MontesVitalPBX what is the best workflow to set things up?
Obviously, various things depend on various other things. Such as you need Extensions to create Ring Groups.
Knowing phone systems in general I have no problem working up a process, but the point of the question is to know what others have already worked out.
VitalPBX themselves do not post any kind of structured installation guide, their Reference Guide is 233 pages, and not organized around a workflow. But it does have lots of solid detail.
Instead it seems that they make various blog posts for functions and features, and you can follow them to set up the specific feature. That is great and all, but it still does not get into the actual best order of work.

So I spun up an instance and deleted it again.
There is just too much work involved in getting something actually live in a new framework.

Can you elaborate a bit? Too much work how? Too much manual labor? Not as easy as FreePBX?
The reason I ask is it is time to replace our PBX server and I was thinking of going with VitalPBX to test a side by side but if it is more labor intensive than backing up and restoring FreePBX I may just stick with FreePBX.

@rcuadra popped back in yesterday... Maybe he could help?

Is it more or less work than setting up FreePBX? No.
It is different though. FreePBX I know in detail already. VitalPBX I do not. Thus it will take me more time than a FreePBX install to set things up to the same level. It would be impossible not to.
Without someone paying me to do this, I simply have not had the personal free time to dedicate to getting something set up.

Well, that was honestly why I replied here again. Also @scottalanmiller is back in the states and may have valid input as I know that he has deployed this.

Or at least set it up on the PBX side, no telling on the phone and SIP/telco access side.

Why would the phone side be any more or less difficult?
