What do you use/do instead if anything? LinkedIn, General News sites, Forums like this
I've been thinking of doing this.ML, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn
But FB was never for news, just chatting. That's all I use those others for, too.

I've been off FB for about 6 months too, don't miss it much. Only thing I really liked were the memories.
Yeah, really don't miss it, at all. I hated FB.

I've been thinking of doing this.I've been using Instagram a little, but I'm rapidly getting sick of it. NPR app for news. ML for everything else. I haven't been a fan of LinkedIn since it's inception.

I was on it back when you had to have a .edu email to sign up. It was soooo much better then. Now it is complete shit, I agree.

I have some people who talk to me on that. That's why I'm there.

Oh wow. I was on a long time, but not that long.

I hate fb too, wont use it. I pretty much just come here and Slack where I chat to people I actually invited and have an rss channel set up for sites I want to read. So basically, check rss, see if I have messages from family, then work. I just ignore everything else I come across throughout the day.
-
I dumped FB in Jan19 - About the only thing I miss is the comments from friends about things that happen... and photos. I don't miss the political, religious, you must help me overcome, give me money posts. And the big one,.. the hate posts.
It was (one avenue) of keeping in touch with people I won't get to talk to much. Ah well..
-
I use Facebook as a way to keep in touch with family and friends who don’t live close to me. I use FB Messenger to talk to my wife throughout the work day. If I wasn’t in IT I doubt I’d have a phone with internet. I’d prefer to be disconnected from the world. I’d rather be on my boat fishing all day.
-
One day after one of the mass shootings ( I don't remember which one), my brother and sister-in-law posted a 'We are the NRA' picture. That's when I decided that Facebook wasn't for me.
I don't care what your philosophy is. I don't need it shoved in my face. <<Pun intended>>

I was doing that (family and stuff), but honestly, it seems like if people don't move to something else to talk to, not a big deal.

I have various WhatsApp groups for family and friends, which is perfect for my needs. My niece loves to hear that my daughter won her swimming gala, but a bloke I went to school with who I haven't seen in 20 years really doesn't want to know. So WhatsApp group great, Facebook rubbish.
I just wish Facebook didn't own WhatsApp.

@Carnival-Boy A wild Carnival Boy appears.

I use WA a little, too. But prefer Telegram. That's where most of my family is.

15 years ago, before Facebook - what did you use to keep in contact with your family? I don't know about you - buy my answer was - oh yeah - nothing. We didn't stay in contact and we didn't feel like we were missing anything - otherwise we would have found a way to stay in contact.

15 Years ago? Ha... We were using Skype and IRC.
Edit: The old man still runs his own IRC server for like 5 friends.

@Deleted74295 We don't do facebook and have no plans to.
A fellow Microsoft MVP once put it, "Being on Facebook is like allowing a pornographer to take up residence in your bedroom."
I totally concur with that.
Plus, Z never did anything to earn our trust. The time and time again dealing with folks who had their "security" settings opened up to the world pretty much cemented it for us.

Blunt: Pretty sad that.
We have/had telephones and mail. We used them extensively because keeping family together is important.
Anything worthwhile takes effort.

ICU? MSN Messenger? AIM?
Heh, there are some vague memories in there of those in the latter part of the 1990s early 2000s.
