WDS is pretty easy. You just need to make sure you have all the drivers accessible.

About to cut over. I have a means of testing two versions side by side with the live database. Kinda cool. Going to kill 0.9.4 and bring up 1.0.0 in a few seconds....
If you get a 503, we should be right back.

That went smoothly, did anyone even notice? I hit a refresh to try to catch it down and got a 502 on a full page refresh. If you already had the site open, hopefully you would not even see a thing.
