@Farhad-Farahmand - There are options built in UniFi if you are using Ubiquiti gear.

      https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/205143830-UniFi-Hotspot-Portal-Customization

Willie Howe does a ton of youtube videos on Ubiquiti. The one below is integrating Stripe but you can do a voucher style system instead.

    • Dell R720 vs R720xd

Does anyone know the difference between the Dell R720 and R720xd. I know Dell had servers advertised as "cloud server" at one time. I think many have said to stay away from those models. Is that what the "xd" model represents?

      Thanks

@syko24 Absolutely no issues with buying an unit from that generation of Dell servers. Buy from a reputable seller who backs it up with a warranty and you shouldn't have any issues.

      Check out xByte.

      @ryan-from-xbyte

That's where it is from. It was one of those email offers xByte sends out every so often. The total price of the server is almost the cost of the drives alone from Dell. Can't really pass it up.

    • RE: Cabling and firecode

@Dashrender - I think low voltage is one of those things that a lot of installers cut corners on because most people aren't going to check their work above the ceilings or down the walls. The client typically just cares that the jacks work and that's it.

    • RE: Hyper-V Guest - Unidentified Network

Sorry missed the part where you said you moved the VMs to another system.

Here is another possible solution. - http://www.wintips.org/fix-network-adapter-code-31-device-is-not-working-properly/

      1. Go into the registry (On the host) and export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network
      2. Delete the subkey Config if it exists
        • If Config doesn't exist, look at the keys below Network and identify the rogue nics and delete the keys
      3. Go into device manager and try to uninstall the rogue nics
      4. Reboot

I don't have any experience with the product, but eM Client looks promising. Pro version allows for adding unlimited accounts. Works with Exchange/Office365.

    • Where do you buy your MS Volume Licenses?

Just curious where everyone buys MS Licenses from. I typically order them through Dell Premier but honestly getting a response takes forever. I see a lot of people buy through CDW. Is the purchasing process through other companies more streamlined? Dell's ordering system is very archaic.

    • Headset Recommendations for softphone

Does anyone have a recommendation for either a usb or wireless headset option for a softphone? Pricewise I would like to be under $100. I know once you go wireless prices jump to the $100-$250 range.

      Thanks

      @RojoLoco @DustinB3403

Thanks for the info! I think I might look at the Jabra line but maybe something a little less than the $150. At that price I feel like I'd be better off with a yealink desk phone.

@bigbear - I use https://cyberarms.net as a fail2ban for Windows equivalent. They used to charge a fee for licensing but now it is completely free. Very quick and easy to setup.

    • Office365 spam

Do any of you guys/gals using Office365 for email receive a lot of fake Office365 account related emails? I have noticed that since moving to Office365 we receive a ton of fake cancellation notices or account related emails. The one thing that all these scams have in common is that the sender/reply-to address is from a domain that is also using Office365 for email. I assume what is happening is the domain sending the emails is someone who fell for the scam and now their email account is being used to send spam to other Office365 accounts because they are unlikely to be marked as spam.

Issue was corrected on Comcast's side. They did not remove the number from their switches after the number was ported. Therefore anytime a Comcast number called our number it went to a busy signal.

    • Weird Excel Issue when closing saved workbook

I have an issue with Excel 2016 and was wondering if anyone else has run across this yet. Basically, if I open the program and then close without saving, Excel closes fine. If I save either to the local disk or network and the go to close, in most cases the workbook closes but Excel does not. I can keep clicking on the X and it just won't close. ALT-F4 does not work either. I do not get a "Not Responding" or any other indication that there is a problem. The only way to close is to end task. It will sometimes freeze when I click Browse to open a file as well. Kind of feel like it is Windows Explorer related but I am not having issues in any other programs. MS Word does not have this issue so I'm not really sure what to think at this point.

      Any suggestions???

      Things I've tried:

      1. Quick Repair
      2. Full uninstall reinstall
      3. Disabled all addons and COMs
      4. Uninstalled Intel HD Graphics
      5. Updated MaxxWave Dell sound drivers - apparently there was an issue with OptiPlex 3040's and 3050's
      6. New user profile
      7. Excel Safemode
      8. Check DDE under options and then uncheck
      9. Disable Graphics Acceleration under options
      10. Disabled Antivirus
      11. Installed latest Windows Updates and Office Updates
      12. Rolled back updates to different builds of Office
