I am pretty excited about this new feature. Allows you to sync files on demand similar to OneDrive and Dropbox. The files only take up space on your device if you open them or choose to keep them on your device always.

Zentyal 5.0 release in November
I know there was a recent post about Zentyal and I made the comment that it appears to be a dead project. I just saw this on another forum post. Possibly making a comeback???

Nextcloud/Owncloud best use cases
So I kind of wanted to expand on the post Offline files nightmare but the discussion started to veer off to other discussions.
I know that some have adopted Nextcloud, Owncloud, OneDrive for Business, Google Drive, etc. as replacements for smb file servers. What I am curious about is how everyone configures these solutions in their environment.
Do you still use folder redirection but point it to the Nextcloud folder? Or do you tell users it's on them not to save data to their desktop and documents?
Do you map network drives using WebDAV for internal users?
Do you create shares from an admin or main share account and then have all users sync the data to their local machine?

RE: Bacula and selinux...
I don't know much about Bacula but when I was researching a couple months ago I came across Bareos which is a fork of Bacula. Not sure if that is the new direction for the software.

RE: Weird Excel Issue when closing saved workbook
So I believe I was able to resolve the issue. I ended up rolling back my Office updates using the method from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2770432/how-to-revert-to-an-earlier-version-of-office-2013-or-office-2016-clic . I had tried numerous versions but none seemed to work. I ended up trying Build 1707 16.0.8326.2073 and holy crap it worked.
Just another observation before I had rolled back is that Excel was using a high amount of CPU (about 45% to 50%). I have seen other people complain about CPU being high in some older versions but it was typically related to the Creators Update and not Office updates.
Anyways, thanks for all the suggestions!! I will let you guys know if this one blows up on me too.

RE: Need suggestion for local Windows backup
Veeam Agent for Windows Free works great. I also like the Synology Active Backup if you happen to have a Synology NAS that’s capable.

The GitHub site has some good instructions for IIS and SAN Certs.

I told him to contact Amazon to report the vendor and get a refund.
Thanks for the replies!

OneDrive brings new file collaboration and management features to the enterprise
Sounds like you can sync shared folders to the desktop now.
Today, we are enhancing OneDrive with the ability to sync SharePoint Online team sites—including files used inside Microsoft Teams, Office 365 Groups and OneDrive folders—shared by others across PC and Mac platforms. Now you can work with all your Office 365 files just as you would files stored on your PC or Mac—even when you are offline

Malwarebytes aquires AdwCleaner

I wonder if this means adwcleaner cannot be used for business use unless you purchase Malwarebytes endpoint.

RE: Zentyal 5.0 release in November
@guyinpv said in Zentyal 5.0 release in November:
If Zentyal is dead, I'm screwed. They are like the only competitor for Windows Server. Maybe. I've barely got my Zentyal fully functional, I hope nothing is dying!
Only meant it's dead because there is very little activity on their site. Zentyal employees don't seem to be involved in the forums anymore. Most of the community jumped ship about a year and half ago because Zentyal removed key features from the developer version and basically put all their focus on the paid versions. At that point everyone seemed to have gone to Nethserver.org

RE: Unifi AP refusing to upgrade
I know this doesn't explain why the access point is having the issue but you can try updating the ap through ssh just to get it upgraded.

Black and White MFP Suggestions
We have been buying Dell printers the last couple years and the quality has just completely gone to sh*t. They have been failing left and right and I have really just had it with them. I have seen some suggestions on here to go with Brother for printers. Are there any particular models that you guys recommend?
I am basically looking for black and white laser, scanning/faxing, wireless, ppm 45 or higher, reasonably priced toner.
Are there other brands you guys would recommend besides Brother?
Thanks in advance

RE: Group Policy Not Applying Server 2012 R2
@g-i-jones - Maybe try adding Authenticated Users to your Security Filtering just to test. I am not 100% sure but I don't think Security Filtering can be left blank??? Also, if you end up entering a security group other than Authenticated Users for Security Filtering, you need to add Authenticated Users to Delegation with Read rights.

Fiber internet - shared vs dedicated circuit
I don’t deal with clients that often that have fiber. I have a sales person trying to tell me that dedicated is better, but a shared circuit for 500/100 for $300/month vs a dedicated 50/50 for $800/month is a crazy difference in price. Am I crazy to think the shared circuit is the better option here or should I tell this guy to go pound sand?
And yes I know don’t let sales people make your IT decisions

RE: The Myth of RDP Insecurity
@nashbrydges said in The Myth of RDP Insecurity:
RDPGuard is the only solution that allows some kind of rate limiting functionality on RDP that I'm aware of. Any other solutions?
There are two alternatives that I use. Both are free and easy to setup.
Cyberarms - Used to be a pay product but now open source https://archive.codeplex.com/?p=idds
You can download the msi from https://cyberarms.net/LF Intrusion Detection - https://litfuse.io/lf-intrusion-detection

RE: The Myth of RDP Insecurity
Cyberarms is also helpful if you have an Exchange server. You can ban IP addresses if a user has too many invalid attempts on the various Exchange services.

RE: Zoho and Outlook with Activesync
@dashrender - Zoho only shows the last 6 months in Outlook by default. I ran into this with a client. You have to put in an email or service ticket with support asking for them to change your organization to sync all email. Not sure the reason for this but I found the answer on their forums last year when troubleshooting.
