I dont believe i have either installed on the client side

      https://chocolatey.org/packages/openssh

Better to use a port scanner, for instance nmap for windows. https://nmap.org/download.html

I would use Nmap on my system, but for troubleshooting a client machine I'd rather use something lighter and faster. YMMV

Yes, but installing the complete openssh server on windows isn't light weight.
For telnet and ssh client it's better to just run putty.exe in that case.
      https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html

Putty used to have less than helpful error messages. It looks like that has changed since the last time I used it. Either way, I'm done arguing with you.

Sorry, didn't mean to start an argument for the sake of arguments. You brought up a good point which is to test with telnet which I appreciate.

That makes sense. It has been a rough week, so sorry if I read too much into your comments.

Overall I would've been willing to forgive (to a point) the abandonment of the EU if Ep7 had been good, but while the story telling was mediocre the science portion of science fiction was exceptionally implausible.

What perspective are you scanning from: external; internal, uncredentialed; or internal, trusted? That will affect the tools you use. We used Lynis (https://cisofy.com/lynis/), but that was more about compliance and vulnerability testing from an internal, trusted perspective.

Right, the Thrawn "Heir to the Empire" was excellent, the Disney Ep 7 was... enough to make me willing to throw SW away and walk away. It made me literally not care about the universe any more. It absolutely ruined SW for me. but I have to cling to that it is jus fan fiction made by and for people that dislike actual SW and want a new product for a new generation. I should not let it take away from actual SW.

There needs to be a Star Wars TV show that does to the Thrawn trilogy what was done with GoT.

We will be using it internally, and ocassionalky external host but 98% will be internal.

I liked Lynis, but it runs on every device you need to scan rather than performing an external scan. This is more about hardening to protect from an attack instead of simulating a hostile reconnaissance.

That said, I can also understand that considering the age of the current actors, it might not have been desirable to make an existing story at the correct timeline.

See, I don't care about the original actors. They should have told the Thrawn story with new actors and let the originals make cameos or something.

Yeah, that would have been great. As it is they went well into the uncanny valley for Rogue One. They don't really have the original actors in so many cases already that trying to use them is just silly and unpredictable.

I'd rather have a non Mark Hamil Luke Skywalker, etc. in a new story than what they did with Ep7.

Do you know for certain that the vendors in question will have an issue? I don't know of many vendors that tie user accounts to IP addresses for the purpose of cross referencing.

I am being told that they use IP addresses and other metrics.

So when your employee and another employee both go work from the same Starbucks it will screw that totally up.

Totally unrelated to your companies multiple legal divisions.

Also home IP addresses can change frequently, depending on the ISP. So one day Bob at your place has an IP and the next day Jill at XYZ has it.

Depending on where you are at in the decision chain for your organization I would consider pushing back on this. It is an difficult task that is not without significant cost, and will frequently fail (people being what they are). If your vendor is requiring this, then they need to have controls on their end for handling it.

      Pretty good, actually.

It is very good at the beginning of the series, one of my favorites. Now Weber is Jordaning it.

I have seen some weirdness with IMAP email and Outlook when the amount of email is very large. The synchronization up to the host can leave the client significantly out of sorts until everything gets balanced especially if you're on an asynchronous internet connection.

So I got the "opportunity" today to play some more with IMAP and PST files. Basically they don't play nicely. In addition Outlook (at least 2016) applies a display filter that hides any emails that have been removed from the IMAP server. This means that those folders that look empty probably aren't. You need to remove the filter on the folders from the folder view settings to be able to see them. Not sure why this is the default, but it does.

You might also look at your work schedule. I've recently become aware of the fact that the tasks that seem to come up during the morning are the ones that are outside of my "sweet spot" from a personality perspective. When those occupy my morning and spend zero time doing things that give me life I end up wiped by lunch regardless of diet or exercise.

@scotth I love slack, very useful. there is a lot you can do with in other than messaging.

Have you looked at Rocket or Mattermost? most of those Slack features I find really annoying and disable. They are just distracting.

I have not but I will take a good look at those. Thanks for mentioning them.

We use Rocket and like it a lot.

Is there a demo or something to look at?
