Does anyone know how I can export Notes from Google account? We've moved away from Google apps but left the notes behind 😞 - I'd like to export them and re-import to Microsoft...Any ideas?

    • RE: Rackmounted Desktops

Scott you hit the hammer on the head with that last post...VDI is something i'm not going to provide to customers if I dont know much about it....

But for my own sanity....How does VDI work exactly...

      1. A super duper spec'd server will be provisioned inside the office (or hosted elsewhere) with some kind of software installed such as XenDesktop, citrix or Horizon and all applications needed and user profiles/accounts configured within there...

      2. A customer will have a thin client on their desk which when powered up and logged in, will automatically load into their virtual desktop which is configured/maintained from the server?

      3. licenses required per user (or per device) if using generic login

    • RE: Rackmounted Desktops

they came back and said a rackmounted server with VDI for each user....makes sense...
My knowledge on VDI is limited....whats the pro's / con's over this solution in your option?

How does VDI work exactly? the server has the applications on and each user simply uses a remote app to open the application thats running on the server?

    • Rackmounted Desktops

Maybe a silly Q, but what are the pro's / con's about rack mounted desktops?
TBH, I didnt even know about these until a new opportunity came to me wanting to setup a new office and wanted costs for new PCS....After providing costs, they said they were discussing the options of rack mounted them....How would this work? If they are all rack mounted they'd have cables running from the rack to each work station and it would look messy no?? Unless the rack is in the middle of the desks??? Can someone explain how users would connect eg monitors, keyboards etc and what the pro's/cons are???

    • RE: Authenticating to Azure Storage Account on Local Windows PC

So I figured out how to do it.
It is possible to map a local shared drive to a Storage account in azure using the net use command in powershell. There is an access key generated within azure which is needed when processing the command.

I just need to play around now with permissions and GPO to see if I can get multiple connections working

    • Authenticating to Azure Storage Account on Local Windows PC

I'm trying to work a little more with Azure and find my way around. I'm currently testing how to work with storage accounts and file shares.
I've managed to get a file share setup and i'm at the point where i'd like to map it as a local drive on my windows PC.

I'm falling over at the authentication screen where you'd typically enter your network credentials to then authenticate to the server and access shares.
Maybe a silly Q, but what should username be? I've tried the domainname\email address, just the email address, just first name, but anything I do wont authenticate...Does it need to be subscription\email address? Just wondered if anyone has faced this.

    • Virtual Server - USB connection

      Hi Guys

Q: We have a virtual server running on a Hyper V hypervisor.
We'd like to use the USB ports within the VM on a daily basis....

I know you can plug the usb into the physical hypervisor and then RDP into the virtual and use the USB resources but we'd like to have a permanent access to USB ports from the virtual server when its plugged into the server....Is this possible and how do we do it if so.

      Thanks

    • RE: Google Apps for Work to new Account

So I just found out - the outgoing IT can generate a token transfer code...Which will then move the admin control from his reseller account into the new reseller account. Doing this doesnt cause any loss of data and doesnt need any migration and everything will stay as is....The problem is - i'm not a google reseller so cant move into my account. I will see if I can sign up for a reseller account or otherwise find a local reseller!

I'm meeting with the client tomorrow to discuss the options - whether we stick with google or not.

    • RE: Google Apps for Work to new Account

@DustinB3403 The problem is the clients account is under the outgoing IT Admins reseller account. Therefore I doubt I can get admin control over that specific client unless it's migrated out of his reseller account and moved to my own ... the question is - is that possible?

    • Google Apps for Work to new Account

      HI guys

We're about to take over a new network. Their email system is currently with Google Apps and the current IT Administrator has the domain setup in his own personal reseller account (of which we cant have access to for obvious reasons).

Therefore we need to request to move the domain & account from the current IT Admin and move it over to our own control.

Whats the best way to do this without causing downtime and loss of emails?
Is there a way of moving it from one Google account to another without loosing emails or will a migration need to take place?

      Thoughts please.
Note: I dont have a google account myself. do i need one?

    • RE: Signing Out at Login

Dont know what the heck happend with this computer but nothing I did seem to fix it - including sfc scannow, registry changes and more as suggested in other articles I found with the same problem. I managed to resolve it by running a full restore of the OS. I chose to keep files but re-install Windows. Doing this fixed the problem and I still had all my data. I hope this helps others down the line.
