haha... but us sys admins are also bags of meat.
Our brains are just a bit more capable.

@DustinB3403 Yeah, that's actually a little confusing to me. Astronauts generally are quite intelligent, yet in this case they get treated like dummies.

They use Lenovo gear on the ISS?

When they launched it, yes. How long has most of that stuff been up without being replaced? I'd bet that a lot of that is what was launched with the module, and procured years before that.
Now, do I think NASA would change vendors just because the vendor changes and is a know bad actor? No way, that's not how bureaucracies work.

Just because someone isn't proficient on a computer doesn't make them a dummy.

I'd heard that it was because they were super repairable.

NASA doesn't have a great track record, honestly. Everything is insanely over priced and under performing. They do great things, but don't do them in a great way.

That's the thing. They HAVE to know how to use/manage the Linux systems already, unless you know someone who would agree to go up and not know how to work the environmental controls/systems.

@travisdh1 no they are users. This means they push whatever menu option they were told to push. It does not mean they "know" Linux

They're a lot more trusting than I would be then. Of course I'm the crazy guy that would insist on learning that odd OS they use for satellites and rovers as well
