Tips for Using ScreenConnect with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Linux

The first thing that you will probably notice is that the default screen effects and animations that Ubuntu enables out of the box are pretty heavy handed and use a lot of processing power and network bandwidth. We should disable those:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
Then open up the CCSM tool:
And then go into Effects and turn everything off. Those are not going to be fun over the SC connection:
Now to address the locking issues as Ubuntu loves to lock your screen while you are doing tasks, the time is so short by default.
Go into Settings -> Brightness & Lock
Either disable locking or make the time something sensible:
And don't turn off the monitor, that just wastes time and network bandwidth:
