I got an Oculus 2.
What's that? I've not heard of that one, did it just come out? We have the Rift S, which has been the top of the line. But they've dropped their flagships and were going only with the Quest and lower lines now. Did they change that?
I meant the Oculus Quest 2. My brain has been lagging behind badly today.
Ah.

Both daughters have a friend sleeping over.
I will vanish into my office and play EQ (private emulator server) with some friends.

Been playing Borderlands 3, looks like Gearbox is dropping some new content the realm of BL.
I’m still looking to replace this desktop. It’s better, but still has performance issues,.. and rather replace- get new replacement over trying to find a suitable video card... NewEgg for the search...

If anyone wants some of the DragonQuest games, they are on sale on most platforms.

@obsolesce That does sound like a really nice update, I'll have to download it and attempt to check it out later. Although, I'm pretty sure my GTX 970 is going to scream at me - it already struggles at times with the current version, and I imagine it will only be worse with the new visual features they added. Might be time for me to seriously consider buying a pre-built so that I can get something like an RTX 3070 so that I can actually run smoothly with these new features...
FWIW, it runs flawlessly on max graphics settings with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q.
Finally got around to checking out this update for a bit and I am pleasantly surprised - it is actually running very smoothly with the "Enhanced" preset. While I've only been able to get about an hour into the game so far, I am sure that this is another quality update from HG - they have been constantly improving the game with every update since release. I'm still hoping I can grab a 3070 so that I can run at max settings, but this will do for now.
Side note: the game has run flawlessly so far on Manjaro using Proton - no workarounds necessary. I just told Steam to use Proton 6.3.4, launched the game and it didn't seem to care at all. It seems to be harder to get modding tools running than it is to get the game itself...

You don't need a 3070 to run with max settings.

I like wemod. I don't think it will work for Linux though, not natively anyways. I game on Windows though so everything just works without needing to mess with anything ever.

I started playing The Pillars of the Earth two nights ago. Really well made, really depressing.

GOG Summer Sale has started. And at Nica prices! This is crazy. I just bought like twenty games, lol.

Steam seems to be price matching. GOG is DRM free... Hm....

GOG is DRM free, and like 75% lower prices here! The price difference in the US is small. Here, it is huge.

I'm early on but really enjoying it. I'm playing it so that I can hang out with the kids who are really into it. But so far, it is a good game. Not too serious, easy to pick up and put down. Engaging enough that I am having fun actually playing the game. And the graphics style just makes me happy to be looking at it for long periods of time.

The best part of it is that the gacha mechanic does not really matter to people who just want to play the game for the experience of the game itself.
When I get home I’ll send you a message with mine and my kids ID numbers
Hanna especially likes to play multiplayer with other people

Awesome, I'm trying to get my level up so that I can play online. The kids are already high enough.

The voice on that fairy though, lol. I've dabbled with it a tad, but haven't played too much yet.

So couple of months ago now, I got an Oculus Quest 2, and have been piddling about with it. I've found a couple of free games and a couple of paid ones that I enjoy.
I've started doing the Air Play so I can play SteamVR games without being tethered to my laptop. I'm actually surprised. I played SkyrimVR for nearly 2 hours last night and my headset still had 38% battery life left.
Gameplay was mostly okay. There were a few stutters, but nothing terrible. Laptop and Headset both connected by WiFi. I can't really tell a difference between tethered and Air Play as far as video quality and such. This is going to be so much fun, lol.

Genshin Impact is free to download on Epic Games.
