Good choice for new desktop PC?
-
Looking to replace a few aging desktop computers and ran across this refurbished one in my searching.
I like that it has SSD. I'm skeptical that it has two DisplayPorts b/c of it's SFF case. If it only has one, would I just need to add another graphics card? Also, it doesn't indicate that it comes with Win8.1 Pro. What are my options to "upgrade" it to either W7Pro or W8.1 Pro?
Looking for feedback and your input on this unit. Are there better alternatives that you would recommend?
Thanks, Dan

Dell has been shipping the dual display port stuff for a while.
Even if it does not have 2, you can split a DP up to about 4. The main limitation is the graphics capability of the onboard chipset.

Seems alright.
Windows version is assumed to be the home eidition as the Pro versions is something that they would advertise.I'm skeptical that it has two DisplayPorts b/c of it's SFF case
It's a bit misleading as they have stated two display ports on one page but the specs page, it's broken down as 1x HDMI & 1x VGA with no mention of Display Ports. You will need to clarify this.
Port Type(s) HDMI|VGA|Serial|3.5mm audio|USB 2.0|USB 3.0|PS/2
It sounds like the person who did the spec sheet for the data entry monkey had no idea what they were on about.
All in all, sounds like a pretty good machine for the money. Just confirm the specs with them. If they stuffed they advertised specs, you'll want to know about it before it arrives at your door.

Ah... guess I was confused about the DisplayPort terminology. Currently, I have a dual monitor setup that uses the DVI ports.

Yep they are basicly the same as our conference computers. You can get them with dual display port not sure if that's standard or not.
