As much as I think smoking needs to be banned, I think that pulling the rug out from under legally addicted smokers is unfair and probably illegal and could end up undermining the law.

This I would argue with you about, a person has a choice to start smoking, vaping using chew etc. And they aren't allowed to legally do this until 18 currently 21 in 120 days.

This is no different than changing the drinking age from 18 to 21 however many years ago that happened.

I believe the people that were already 18 when the drinking age changed to 21 were grandfathered in and were still allowed to buy alcohol. Maybe the same will happen with smoking to prevent what Scott talked about. The article doesn't mention it.

That would make sense, and I'm okay with that.

That is generally the same latency I was getting on my last cable connection to anywhere outside of TWC's network.

400 Mbps though... for how many users at the same time? The article said that was also the peak speed. So no clue what the nominal speed will be.

400Mbps for a single ground link. not the max per satellite.

While they didn't mention it, you don't expect a clear line of sight signal speed to really waver. Wifi, for example, doesn't change in stationary, line of sight situations.

That latency is between you and a hosted server, though, most likely. Not between you and the satellite.

At least 26 people are dead and dozens injured after a suspected arson attack at an animation studio in Kyoto, Japan, local emergency officials have said.

Local media quoted police as saying a man broke into the Kyoto Animation Co studio on Thursday morning. Police say the suspect, a 41-year-old, sprayed petrol before igniting it.
Some people still remain unaccounted for, broadcaster NHK reported.

El Chapo trial: Mexican drug lord Joaquín Guzmán gets life in prison

A US judge has sentenced Mexican drug kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán to life in prison plus 30 years.

Guzmán, 62, was found guilty of 10 charges, including drug trafficking and money laundering, by a federal court in New York in February.

This is the part I don't get He was also ordered to pay $12.6bn (£10bn) in forfeiture.

Like he's going to pay a penny.

It's not the judge's job to worry about if or how a payment may eventually be made. The law allows for fines based on the crimes Guzmán has been convicted of so they were assessed.
