Australian s are about as backwater as the US government.
Incredibly important part of the article.
"As the government explains, the proposal would impose fines of up to A$10 million for companies that do not comply and A$50,000 for individuals who do not comply.
Additionally, the proposed law would seemingly forbid companies from even talking about whether they were under legal pressure from the government to assist them. Put another way, if there was an "FBI v. Apple"-type situation in Australia under this law, hardly anyone would know about it."

Music is highly subjective... it's right in line with "what's your favorite color". But to say a specific color is garbage because you don't like it... is, well... garbage.
I prefer music without vocals, but I won't call everything else garbage.

Twinkle Twinkle LIttle Star is better than all their music, and it was written by a 5 year old.

Twinkle Twinkle's real name is Ah vous dirai-je, Maman and is an anonymous pastoral tune, made famous by Mozart's Variations.

Q: Who is the best Eagle?
A: the only acceptable response is Joe Walsh.

the only good thing about the '80s was that we lost one of the Bee Gees

In this city, someone gets shot an average of about once per hour.
Obviously the answer here is more guns.

Lawful gun ownership by responsible owners would deter a lot of gang/generic gun violence.

The Onion is always good for this.

@jaredbusch The amount of scrap value there would actually make the city of Chicago worth moving to, if only for the scrap metal. . .

New school policy now in effect: teachers in Chicago take guns from students like phones and give them back at the end of class.
-
@obsolesce as if terrorism or a school shooting is out of the norm . . I'd expect the Security at public schools to hand out more guns than anything. . .

... but because of the school's insurance policy, the teachers aren't allowed to use the students' guns to stop an active shooter...

Chicago teachers watch the late night news to see who won't be in class the next day.

@obsolesce exactly and that's a lot of the reality of the situation. Schools should be a "safe place" but around the school can't be controlled in the same ways.
I'd be willing to bet that 99% of the violence is due to issues that arise in school and are "handled on the street".
